Has anyone had this feeling before in there chest? I was upset with my son and the next the I know I feel this throb in my chest that only lasted about 2-3 seconds max. It felt almost like and electrical shock or a balloon expanding and deflating very quickly. It scared me beyond desription. I wonder if I was just upset and because I have been so fixated on my heart and chest area that I had some kind of a quick muscle spasm. When I used to get chronic headaches I remember having this feeling like something expanding and and deflating quickly in my head and finally got used to it happening every now and then. I just figured it was some kind of a muscle contraction due to being upset and tense. But this sensation in my chest is just too much. I thought I was it was the beginning of a heart attack or just heart failure. Any input is much appreciated.

I have it alot & many others here do too. It feels like your heart just took a huge leap. Only, once mine does that, it keeps doing it & then I also have palpatations, it's all stress/anxiety, panic attacks.

The disturbing part was how noticeable or hard it was out of the blue.

I've had these pains for years and I'm only 22!!! I've had a million dollars worth of tests done in the last 2 months and no abnormalities! Have you tried going to the gym? With me the gym is my release, give it a shot, you never know!

This is your Heart Skipping a beat we tend to get these when we arestressed. Some people get thousands a day but are as noticable. But take it from em someone who gets these GIANT throbs daily. Its absolutly NOTHING to worry about we all get them.

You know, the funny thing about it is, I advise new people here about them, but when they happen to me, which has been a lot lately, I get panicky about it too. We all need reassurance about this heart thing..

I have this all the time!
I suffer from stress and Anxiety every single day of my life.
It takes a toll on a person's heart.
I have not only the throb, but what is called, premature arterial contractions which gives you the skipping beat from stress and anxiety.
Iam currently on xanax for my nerves, but I still think I need something else to control my problems better. I find myself not taking the xanax when I really need it in fear of getting hooked.
But, yes I know what you are talking about.
Anxiety can ruin a person's life. I don't handle stress very well, which does not help either.
My family is very dysfunctional and gossip and backstabbing is the problem. None of this helps me with my illness.
So, I do understand your symptom.

Yep- I get something very similar. Not painful, but it sure feels strange. More often lately, I get this feeling when laying on my left side. Feels like my heart is constricted and I can *feel* it moving around- also feels like something is being pinched off, because I feel kind of like I'm holding my breath or am being lightly chocked. This is likely not quite the same as you report, but I responded because I also identify with the "balloon" sensation you describe. Been going on for months here- time to ask the good doctor about it, I guess! If you learn more, please post! And good luck! :-)

Hey beebsqtip,
Yup... me too... the mind is a powerfull thing... causes heart palpitations (most likely just muscle contractions cause by stress) and anything else you can think of. One doctor, who I'll never forget, gave me an EKG to humour me and said "Do you do allot of Cocain?" To which me and my girlfriend quickly said "No!"... he says "Well... I've been a doctor 25 years and I've only seen one heart attack in a person as healthy looking as you... and it was cocain induced..." If you need a test for your piece of mind, do it. But odds are, it's that creative brain of yours.
Cheers!

Mine has been doing it anytime I try to go to sleep now. I know it's my crazy brain doing it, but HOW do I stop it?? My heart is fine all day, walking long distances, malls, shopping etc., but when I try to take a nap or go to bed at nite, that's when it starts. This is getting rediculous, am I truly NUTS? I'm actaully afraid to tell my pdoc, I think he thinks i'm nuts already. He may just decide to lock me up! :bouncing:

How do you cope with them daily? They are driving me nuts.
