I have been reading about how much you want sleep and have been needing it. For some reason i feel like that too. It comes and goes. I read in one of your threads that you were having extreme tiredness and your mind wasnt clear and you were like out of it. I have been having that problem. I get about 8-10 hours of sleep every night and then during the day i get really tired. What do you think is causing it? How exactly do you feel when you get like this? It is really starting to bring me down and after reading what you had wrote I thought I would see whats going on. How are your eating habits? Do you drink enough water? I am trying to find answers for the both of us. Well I hope to hear from you soon. Mandi

Sorry it to so long to reply been busy.
Well, for the last couple months like I have said before, just really tired all of the time. Lately though it has been getting even worse. I thought it was bad before but now. I am tired all of the time. I can sleep the whole day away without even trying and now I am having sharp pains on the right side of the head but it doesn't feel like a headache. At this point I am afraid that I won't wake up. There were times I was so tired I didn't even no I fell asleep and I would wake up freaking out.
Anyways, didn't mean to get off track. I will admit my eating habits are unstable. Sometimes I will eat real healthy and routinely (sorry can't spell), but most of the time snacking eating cup cakes in the morning and smoking on the weekends when I work.
I also get really depressed. I don't know if this is because I am stressing that i feel like I can't get more than enough sleep or if this a side affect. Water well thats a habit I just can't get down either but still working on it.
I have been excersizing and at first it helped then it didn't.
I use to be able to clean around the house, but now I can't even seem to do that anymore.
I have been working on my eating habits and water in the last 2 days and so far this hasn't helped yet.
I have been to sleep disorder clinic and I am still awaiting for the results!
Hope this helps!
Good luck!
Sorry I got excited to see i wasn't alone on this one. I thought I was going crazy!

Well i went to my doctor the other day and her only suggestion to me was to start anxiety meds and eat better. She told me to cut out carbs and focus on protein and veggies. I have been drinking a lot more water. This seems to help. In fact last night I wenjt out and had to leave because I was so out of it and tired. I decided to stop and eat at Wendy's. All I got was chicken nuggets. Man did that do the trick. I ate them all which was almost impossible and then boom, I was awake and wanting to eat more. I even slept well. I am doing all protein just for the weekend to see how it goes. She also told me to avoid sugars. so I guess we will have to see how it goes. I also started drinking Ensure Plus. It has got a lot of calories and nutrition in it. I really hope you are feeling better. Try giving your diet a change and see if it helps. Focus on Protein. Well I hope to hear back from you!! MANDI

Hi, I have been in the same boat lately. Too tired to function basically. I will have highs and lows throughout the days(although the highs are still quite low) :) I do drink a fair amount of water and my eating habits change daily-depending on how much energy I have to put into preparing/cooking. I know I don't sleep well at night, I wake up atleast 3 times a night. I am going to try up my protein some.
Mandi- is the ENSURE PLUS high in sugar(suppose to cut out sugar) :(
I have had a couple bouts where I feel completely exhausted, too tired to even move-and just need to go to sleep(but usually can't-with the little ones). I don't know what the heck is causing such drowsiness(not too mention the brain fog). Keep Posting, atleast we can suffer together....:)

I did notice the Ensure had a lot of sugar. I hate feeling this way. I am getting sick of it. I really felt better when I was eating whatever I wanted. Yesterday I ate a little and went to bed. I too have highs and lows. I can clean my whole house but then I get wiped out a little bit later. I usually get a lot of energy at night. I havent had any appetite. I usually get one at like one on the morning. I always go thru these bouts of where I cant eat, barely can sleep. What foods give the most nutriton? I hate eating meat. I feel like I am developing an eating disorder but not the normal kind. I am not doing it because I want to lose weight. I really hope we can all work thru this. Oh another thing. Do you notice your self not feeling good from eating poor. I get mild nausea from not eating well. Well hope everyone is doing well. Keep in touch!!!

I went to the sleep disorder clinic to get my results from my sleep test. The doc said that he suspects narclopsy (miss spell), but he needs me to take a blood test to confirm it. He said I sleep a lot. He said a symptom that i mentioned also made it sound like I had it. Which is driving on auto pilot. Thats when you drive from one placeto another and not even noticing how you got there. If you know what I mean. Do you ever feel like that? Kind of scared now cause he wants me to take these pills that wakes me up in the morning. He said it could make my heart race, but he will start me off a half a pill a day.
I have one other question are you doing the low carb high protein or just more protein? I remember when I went to the low carb diet I had lots of energy and didn't sleep as much as I do now. I was also taking a multi-v. from bally total fitness so I don't no if that was it too!

Well I am doing low carbs and trying to cut out excessive sugar and focusing on proteins and veggies. I get a little bit of carbs. I started drinking a great deal of water. I keep with the vitamins. I know I felt twenty times better yesterday after eating. I still get lows but the doc said not to worry about them. I really hope you dont have narcolepsy. Do you just develop it? Weird.Well keep in touch.
abbygirl2 03-16-2004, 12:53 PM
Hi, I just came back from the Dr. She too mentioned Narcolepsy-She is sending me to a sleep clinic-I hate the idea, but if its got to be done...
She mentioned a few other things and took a whole lot of blood for numerous tests. I used to have the 'driving on auto pilot' thing but I haven't driven much the past few years so haven't experienced it in awhile. I really hope it isn't narcolepsy, although she mentioned chronic fatigue and I hope it isn't that either. Basically I hope its something they can give me a pill for and I will feel better...:) I have to wear an oxygen monitor tonight when I sleep...what can that show-anyone know?
Abby

abbygirl,
The oxygen monitor, If i think what I think it is. Its just to see how you breath at night. Some people stop breathing, breathing deeply or unsteady breathing when sleeping. Not to worry its nothing big just uncomfortable. I had to do the sleep test and wear one of those. It can be uncomfortable!
Mandi,
I just read on some info on narclepsy. I am scared now. I didn't know how serious it was. I read something about being paraliyzed before of after waking up from sleep. What I am scared of is what if I don't have this condition and the doc is just suspects this disease and has me try this medication that is suppose to control my brain to wake up and then my brain adapts to this. Then it really thinks it does have this condition. Then I start waking up paralyzed! This is my worst fear right now because I am suppose to take meds soon.

I wake up paralyzed a lot. It is common in a lot of people. I used to get so freaked out by it, but now I just go back to sleep. I think what it is is when you wake up mentally but physically you are still asleep. I know tons of people that do it. Dont be afraid. Have you changed your lifestyle around at all? Maybe that is what is contributing to the tiredness. I really hope we all can get through this. WE WILL!!! Keep in touch!!!

I have had 4 episodes of sleep paralysis(about a year ago) none recently. The first time it happened, it freaked me out, I thought I was permanently paralysed. For me it only lasted about 10sec. or so each time. I know of a couple others who have had it at one time or another.
The oxygen monitor(technically called the OXIMETER) is a machine with a closepin type thing I clip on my finger. I hope I don't have sleep apnea(my mother has it-I don't think I could sleep with that machine on every night).
Are any of you on any meds to help you sleep? Do they work? I'm not on anything YET....
Thanks for the support and info.

I sleep pretty well at night. I go to bed pretty late and watch tv for a couple hours, but I eventually fall asleep. i hate nightmares. I avoid chocolate before bed. Other wise I sleep fairly normal. I have never taken any meds for sleep so I cant help you on that one.

Is the ensure helping? Which ensure is it? Im thinking about taking ensure but, I am afraid I could gain weight off of it if taken.

Ensure gives a little extra. It is a great meal supplement. I try not to depend on them but they give you a nutritional boost. I doubt you would gain any weight from it. Would you rather gain a couple pounds and be healthy or be skinny and feel horrible? i always get the Ensure Plus. It has a little more than regular ensure. If I do get regular Ensure I get the extra protein kind. Give it a shot. Keep eating a try it in between meals. It is doctor recommended.

I got the results of my oxygen test and the Dr said it was fine. I don't know how she could tell, it took me 8hrs to get to sleep that night...I finally slept off and on for about 6 hours. I guess the main thing is that I do not stop breathing while sleeping-(whew). I hope she still plans on sending me to the sleep clinic...will have to wait to find out.
I started ENSURE(not PLUS-couldn't find it) and I haven't noticed any difference(typical with me) :)....I also take vitamins, I am wondering if I would be getting too much of something. Leave it to me to find something ELSE to worry about. ;) Hope you all are doing good...

Do you get any side affects from it? I get stomach aches very easily!
abbygirl2 03-20-2004, 12:53 AM
I recently started taking Caltrate Plus(with Vit.D) and a B50 Complex. Dr recommended-both are supposed to aid in stress relief-and the B-Complex is SUPPOSED to boost your energy-I don't find them very helpful yet....

I have no problem with ensure. If I have an upset stomach from not eating and I drink it it usually gives me an appetite and makes me feel better. I am sure every person differs. The chocolate is the best kind.
