Has anyone tried Methadone for pain. I'm currently using oxycontin (2 x 40 mg and 1 20mg daily). It's not helping alot, so the doctor wants to switch me over to Methadone. I have read that it is better for nerve pain. Any positive or negative experiences?

I've been taking Methadone (3 x 10mg daily) since November 2003. I also take Topamax (2 x 150mg daily) to help with the pain. Methadone is the first medication that has given me any real pain relief. I was incredibly tired the first 2-3 weeks after starting on it, until I got used to it. Other than that, I've had no other side effects.
