Most of you know me, and have seen me around the board alot. A little background.
I had a possible exposure (status unknown, no condom) in June of 2002.
I was tested 81 days post exposure as part of a routine pregnancy screening. I re-tested using Home Access 16 months past possible exposure. Both tests negative.
I have worked HARD to put my HIV fear behind me, BUT......
I have had what I believe to be two yeast infections in the last 2 months, a cold I cant kick, and two babies (twins, the pregnancy I was tested in) who CAN NOT seem to get over their colds or ear infections and are now on a SECOND round of antibiotics.
Parnoid, maybe, but where else will I go for help but here?
So tell it to me straight, those tests were accurate, right? And I should move on and forget it, right?
Thanks guys, and sorry too. Even the best of us need reassurance now and then.

Hi. I have been reading the boards but have not replied here before. My last possible exposure (same type as you) was about 13 years ago and I still think about it. How crazy is that. I have been with my husband for that long now and have had the Home Access (my dh took it too), then had two children with two tests (maybe more, I'm not sure how many they do while preg.) I know deep down I'm not positive but sometimes "what if" thought pop into my head and I don't know why it happens!
That aside, I think it has been a really hard season for illness. I have been sick a lot myself, and I had an ear infection (haven't had one since childhood), bronchitis, tonsilitis, colds, and I've had a swollen neck node for a long time now. It's been going on 3 months or so and I'm just now starting to feel better. I had two rounds of antibiotics also.
Your tests were accurate! I think the thoughts get the best of you but you have to put them aside and put your past behind you. We live and learn. I hope you are feeling better soon.

oh hun i am so sorry you are feeling this way. the only thing i can say is get out the lysol. perhaps you are getting re-infected from your kids and then them from you. they touch eachother all the time i am sure and you know you are kissin on them. i would disinfect your place like there was no tomorrow and load up on the vitamins. i know that sounds stupid but it really can help. i believe you are negative but get retested if it will make you feel better. you will be ok, ok?

Maybe Helpful, I was thinking about posting something similar. I haven't been around much lately, but am overwhelmed with fear after I found out my fiance/son's father was sleeping with dozens of other women behind my back. Though he swears he's been using protection, I'm now back in that "what if" boat. I have been struck with strep twice in the past month and he's been sick a lot more than usual lately too. I go to the doctor Friday and was going to ask for the test then. Of course, then I was coming to all of my "Heroes" here for support while I waited the horrible wait.
Now that I've obviously turned to you for support (yes I consider you a Hero to these boards), I guess I should address your situation. I first have to agree with others...this has been a horrible beginning of a year. It seems like everyone is getting sick and more often than usual (some believe it's the terrorist making us that way). Also, is there anyone who smokes around your babies? My parents smoke around my son and he's always sick. He keeps ear infections and colds due to their smoking. Let's also not forget the dreaded allergy season coming back. I can't remember off hand where you live, but if it's one of those high pollen areas we all know allergies can mimic a horrible cold. One that seems to never go away. You are absolutely correct...those results were accurate! Once you and your babies get to feeling better you will see that all this was brought on by STRESS and continued on by STRESS! I wish you all the best and please take care! One more thing...PLEASE continue to pass out your great support and advice, as I'm sure I will be the next one needing it!
With great respect to you,

Thank you all so much. I know I havent been around to much, there are alot of things in my life going on right now, and my HIV fear, as silly as it sounds, has almost slipped into the background-almost, never completley.
Normo, I didnt realize until reading it in your post how accurate it is that EVERYONE seems to be ill this year, almost worse than I have noticed in years past. The entire first half of this year seems to be one thing followed by another. I wonder whats going on. And thank you SO much for your kind and reassuring words. I know your right.
On a personal note. I am in the process of getting a divorce, and have begun a relationship with someone I have loved most of my life and has come back into my life again. What is the most comforting thing, is that he and I have discussed my risk, testing and fear of HIV, and he is very supportive. This amazes me, and I realize how needed the support is on this board, and how much people need to have answers and support. Some one to count on, even if its on a copmputer screen.
I am sure my tests were fine, and now not only am I prepared to move on, but also NOW do I have a reason. Thanks to you all, and I hope once the dust clears at home, I will be able to be back around more!!!!

I am not sure if this helps but I went through the what if to.My new baby kept getting sick.I found out I was cheated on while I was pregnant.I had all the symptoms and my baby kept getting sick.I went to the doctors and he told me that smoking is a BIG factor and the fact that babies do not develope a good immune system till they are around 7 years old.He told me that she can recatch the same cold back and forth.I have had 3 negative tests come back and even though I knew the last one was negative I still was sick.Just one final note on the yeast infections have you switched detergant or soap or anything to trigger the yeast infecton? Also certain antibiotics cause yeast infections......
