i feel like there is something on the left side of my throat when i swallow and im having shortness of breath, i do have asthma. has anyone ever had this feeling before and is it normal for asthma sufferers???

Melissa, I suggest you call your doctor. The lump in your throat could be a throat infection, many times any illness will make asthama worse, or at least make you more prone to an attack.

Mine personal problem occurs with viruses and sinus infections.

thanx so much for the reply. i took your advice and last nite it got worse so my mom took me to a hospital and it turns out that it is a throat infection and what i have is making my asthma act up more b/c its all inflamed inside so now im on medication

I have been through this many times, any time I get an infection I can count on my asthma to act up.

The worst times for me have always been the spring and fall, allergies - then a sinus infection - then bronchitis and so on and so on. In March of 2001 I was put on Advair and Singulair with Albuterol as my rescue inhaler. I live in Alabama so the pollen is very bad - I guess it is ragweed in the fall, anyway since I have been on the Advair and Singulair I have not been sick. This is my 2nd fall and I haven't had to use my Albuterol in days, I think I have finally hit the combination that works for me.
