hii, i juz did my Hep C test a few hrs ago..my result will be back in ard 3-5 days time.
I am not an IV drug user, i do have on occassion gotten some unprotected oral from sex workers, but i have always use condoms for all my vaginal intercouse encouters.
From what i know, Hep C is mostly transmitted thru blood contact rite??
So, are my chances good that i won;t get infected. Btw, if let say, in terms of blood contact, if the sex worker was having menses, definitely i would see blood all over her vagina rite?? If let say, i miss it, surely when i remove my condoms, my condom would be bloody rite...
Is there any risks i were to just rub my genital against her vagina, w/o penetration, if let say she was having menses, which i dun tink is the case..maybe its my paranoia that she was havin menses.
Lastly, my doc, tells me that there's not treatment for Hep C, and once i have it, i am just a carrier and nothing can be done. Why is it that u guys are taking bout treatment????
Pls, i am really freakin out

Hi Dario,
Please don't freak out! There are answers to everything - but, apparently, NOT from your doctor. Sheesh, the dr. sounds like a real DUNDER HEAD!
There most certainly IS a treatment for Hep C! Your doc REALLY needs to spend some SERIOUS time updating his/her medical skills! This guy is a malpractice suit waiting to happen! just my opinion
Yes, Hep c IS spread thru contact with infected blood - BUT, it HAS to be blood to blood, NOT blood to skin or condem. Specifically, the infected person would have to contact YOUR blood WITH their blood. Unless you have/had open sores on your penis, your partner being in menses SHOULD not be a problem, especially, as you say, since you use protection. And in answer to your question, there would. most likely, be VISUAL evidence that your partner is in menses. If she were at the end of her cycle, bleeding MAY have slowed enough that there would not be any real visual signs.
I hope this helps,

The doctor says the blood test would be done using Axsym By Abbott Labs. It is an accurate test for Hep C, will it give a false positive??
Pls help me out here.

I amnot an expert on testing, but this is probably the usual antibody test. If at least six weeks have passed since the suspected exposure, it is accurate and cheap. ANY test can yield a mistaken result. The usual way to reassure ourselves is to repeat the test in six months or so. It's easy and cheap enough to do so.
Hope this helps.

Yes, by all means move on. In my opinion, anyway.

The test said negative? If so, I would move on. I would still be careful, though, we all are going to die of something, might as well try to see that it is "old age".

HI DARIO
yes< you should be able to move on__SORRY< my keyboard is acting wierd< and giving capital letters and < & > instead of punctuation> so< hope this is readable anyway!
i assume the partner you were worried about having been exposed to hep c is NOT the same person you are marrying? you will have to have a blood test to obtain a marriage license< so perhaps test AGAIN for the hep c at the same time> Really< though< since your contact WAS protected< and your first test showed up negative to exposure < it is time to move on and forget about this>
I think what Wes meant is that if you continue with different partners, you should continue to use protection and avoid exposure, if at all possible.
Get married, and have a GREAT life together! I think it is time to lay your fears to rest. :D

What? What views? and why does the number of views change each time you ask?
I am guessing, but, maybe the reason no one has answered is that we don't know what you are referring to.
