I am a newly bisexual man. Six months ago, I had my first unprotected oral and protected anal (receptive) experience. I do not think the condom broke or slipped. We were together for about 30 minutes or so. He said he was HIV -, even as recent as last week.

I have not been able to live with the guilt of doing what I did...lots of stress... A few days after the encounter, I went to the doctor with a sore throat, which turned out to be strep...a week later, every single ARS symptom hits me hard...drenching night sweats, bad cold, sore throat (again), nodes...you mention it, I had it. A couple of weeks later, all signs were gone. For months, I have been very afraid, but had not been on the net to find out anything about the disease.

About one month ago, I got on the net..and to my shock...I have had every symptom...Since then, more symptoms have shown...swollen areas, fever, brown & red spots in arms and chest mostly ...I have had diahrrea for weeks now...and dry mouth/feeling tired all the time.

I am so afraid to get tested....my doctor got some blood work done and everything looked ok..but no HIV test...

Please please please help! I thought I had safe sex, but it seems that there is no such thing....

My symptoms currently..six months past possible exposure...

nervous stomach (loose stools at times)
dry tongue
dry eyes
red/brown spots in arms/legs/chest
numbness of hands or feet whenever they are not moving
bump next to anus
lethargic
depressed

What do I do when I am told I am positive? Any words would help!!!

Hey there,

Well you certainly do seemed a little stressed out. I have heard some doctors say that symptoms cannot be diagnosable of HIV infection. For instance, being lethargic and having loose stools can easily be attributed to stress and anxiety. Both of which you are feeling right now.....right? Your strep throat probably caused swollen nodes, and these can remain swollen for a long time.

The only way to really find out is to get a test. Your blood work came back good which is a good sign of general health. But this cant diagnose HIV. I really think that you should get tested and here is why. If you think about oral sex has a very low risk of transmission, and like you said you think the condom didnt break. So technically there should be little worry. Not to mention the fact that you said he is HIV -. In other words i would say you have a very small but possible chance of being infected if he is lying or something. By you going to get tested you will be able to finally deal with the disease if you are positive which is a VERY small chance. Most likely you will be negative and then you can forget about all this and put it behind you right? I can reassure you all you want and i hope i have shown to you that you only have a small chance, but you will always have the thought in the back of your mind. It has been six months so your test will be very accurate and probably negative. Go get tested and good luck.

Greg

biguy-What exactly is your issue? Do you get some kind of sick pleasure out of posting stuff like this? I can't believe you are starting this all over again on a brand new board. Does everyone here know that you claimed to have gone on the 15th of March for your HIV results and you claimed that you are positive? Or that you have been tested before, but "lost" your number for the Home Access? You need some serious help. Back when you started the attached thread, it was January and you claimed your exposure was six months ago. It's now March, but you are still saying six months.

To all of you that do not know me, I am a member of the aidsmeds.com "Fear of Getting HIV" forum and thebody.com's "Am I Infected?" forum. I have attached the link for biguy's thread simply because you all need to understand that he has been through all of this before on the aidsmeds.com forum. I don't know exactly what his agenda is, but please don't waste your time with him as he wasted all of ours the past three months.

hey switch, the mods will take that link away, but that seems like a really cool place. you can't post stuff such as links and what nots.

as far as biguy goes, we see this ALL THE TIME HERE. i think a new set of ears, or eyes rather as well as a fresh place to start. i think the positive attention is comforting, but eventually he will have to get tested or go one living in his own personal hell. we can all only do so much, no one here claims to be able to tell the future.

and biguy if you are reading this please know that we will try and support you but if you are not totally honest there isn't much we can do here in cyber space. please get tested for real and get on with it.
