I have recently sent in my application to get coverage with Pacificare..the thing that is scaring me is that I have asthma, acid reflux and depression..do you think that because of these things I will not get insured? Has anyone dealt with getting individual plans before?

Yes, my husband and I are going through the same thing right now - I'm on Advair for my asthma and Coumadin (blood thinner for a blood disorder) and no matter where we apply, we're declined. Needless to say, we are getting very worried as nobody will touch us because of me.

:) I think the only problem you may run into is a "pre existing condition clause". That usually means you will be covered, but only after a specified waiting period. Good Luck. I know insurance companies are really strict about those chronic problems.

Just a thought....
On Coumadin, you almost certainly will never be insurable. Your best chance will be a state insurance risk pool, or a job.
I would go ahead and get your husband an individual plan (thus he will have insurance), and start applying for the state risk pool if you have one. Otherwise, I'm afraid without that or a job you will be out of luck on insurance.
