I use a progesterone creme by LifeFlo called Progesta-Care which is considered a bio-identical hormone therapy - a NATURAL product versus HRT. I have found it in health food stores and vitamin stores and no prescription is necessary. It's also available on [website removed] It's about $34.00 for a little over a month's supply. The LifeFlo product is especially nice because it comes in a pump that pre-measures the amount to use. It is recommended to use it for 25 days then off for 5 days. I apply it in a rotating manner to my left inner arm, right inner arm, chest and then rotate the areas. It has helped me immensely with hot flashes and night sweats altho' it took a good 6 months to start really feeling the effects. It's been a great thing for me.

thanks, deb! I am looking for the stuff that the doctor prescribes and that you have to take to a compounding pharmacy. they take a saliva test to show where you're deficient in hormones, then prescribe different ones to match only you. suzanne summers talks about it in her new book as does, christine northrup, md. I need more immediate results after trying the wild yam cream for months. can't tell if it helped or not. thanks again!

I have been using natural progesterone cream and a sublingual (under the tongue) pill prescribed for me by an endocrinologist, prepared by a compounding pharmacy in our area. The dr started me on 150 ml of cream days 14 until start of new cycle. My blood work came back with a lab value of 1 for my progesterone level so she added the 50 ml pill to it to be taken every night. I have experienced a huge swelling of my left breast every cycle. This is my 3rd cycle. Last Sunday I began to have pains in my breast, left breast mostly and my nipples on both breast are very sore. I have not had this before in the other 2 cycles of progesterone so I believe I may be on overload. The dr. was trying to build up my porgesterone level and I believe she gave me too much too fast. I have called her office and left a message for the nurse to call me every day this week, but no one has called. So on Tuesday I stopped using the progesterone in case I was getting too much and the breast symptoms have improved. I was on a cream that I ordered I did not notice much help so that is why I went to this endo. She prescribed Bio-Identical natural progesterone that is USP grade. When I asked the pharmasist about the difference in the cream I used and the cream he is compunding I told him the cream I ordered has 1000micrograms and he said my 150 ml he was compounding was 150 times stronger. I am not going to quit using the cream I just need to hear from my dr. so that is why I stopped it for right now. I am suppose to start my period on Sunday anyway. I recomend the cream I believe it has helped me, but I am on what is call a pharmological dose, much different that the OTC creams. I suggest you try seeing an endocrinologist and ask about the hormone testing and the natural progesterone.
