One of the effects of taking antidepressants/antianxiety drugs is that they calm you down, and one of the side effects will be your heart beating slower. If you are dependent on them to manage your anxiety, when you go off them, you may find your heart beating faster when you are feeling anxious compared to when you were on the drugs. How long this may persist is anyone's guess, as each of us are different. On the other hand, you may not have any withdrawal symptoms at all, in which case it would be safe to go off them.

What I'm saying here is not medical opinion and should not be a substitute for one! Please speak to your doctor about going off Zoloft and whether you should be weaning off them slowly rather than quit cold turkey.

Hope you do well!

im not dependant on them for my anxioty, i only took them for around a month, since then, i have been under control, tho i have been kinda light headed since i stoped, but only at night. it could also be due to me going to bed around 3am and getting up around 10 and 11 am. I am still on my beta blockers tho and my heart rae when resting is still the same when i was on them.

Yugokid, why were you taking the zoloft? Was it for anxiety or depression? Just curious. I have generalized anxiety disorder, and I take 1mg of xanax per day as well as Toprol xl 25mg per day. My doc wants me to try zoloft and possibly wean off the xanax. My anxiety is worst than the depression. Before the Toprol, my heartrate would go as high as 120bpm. The Toprol is keeping it pretty steady around 70bpm, which is a good thing. I dont want to have to take meds for the rest of my life tho, so i'm agreeing to try and learn the cognitive behavior therapy. Wish me luck !

thanks,
