I have swollen lymph nodes quite frequently on my armpit and groin region. I don't know if its true but I read that shaving can possibly cause them and I shave them both occasionally, im not too worried about HIV b/c I've had the swollen nodes for a few years now but i have no other symptoms of HIV. However I am concerned about other STD's. I have no swollen nodes anywhere else, and no other symptoms of STD's that ive read on this sight. Is it possible that these are caused by something I shouldn't worry about. Or should I pretty much be prepared to be diagnosed with something serious. No one needs to tell me to go get a test. I know I need to do that and will shortly. But i'm curious if anyone can give me some advice on what the possibilities could be. The only positive I can find is a girlfriend that I had just over 2 years ago (who i had unprotected sex with) is "clean" from her blood tests and I had these swollen lymph nodes before I was with her. Any advice/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure your lymph glands are enlarged? Shaving upwards on the sides of the neck can result in ingrown whiskers which can cause pain and tenderness in the general area of the neck glands. A topical antibiotic cream a doctor can prescribe can help clear it up.
