Ok i found one. I don't have much to pick from here. Looks like its next wednesday at noon. I have to drive about 30 min, but thats ok. All the other meetings are either way to far or on the weekends which are impossible for me. Anyway please give me the courage to walk thru those doors next wednesday instead of chickening out. I am a little worried cause she didn't know if I could bring the baby, but she said it didn't say anything stating that I couldn't. We will see! Also how long do these meetings last usually? Gotta pick up my other two kids from school at 2pm. thanks!

Good Luck Rach..please let me know how it goes. I am very interested in knowing what to expect. Also keep an eye out if you see any babies there. I don't know why i am so nervous about bringing my baby. I guess fear of getting rejected. Keep me posted!!

Jenny, last night I went to a meeting with a baby, and last week as well. Even one with babysitting next door had an uncooperative 5 year old in it once.

NA is a club that wants you in it! If you feel rejected, go find another meeting!

NA meeting can be hard to find when you live in a suburb. Like I said before I only found 2 and 1 is on saturday and the other on wednesdays. That is the one I am gonna go too. If i can get the corage up. I am just trying not to even think about it. Come wednesday I am gonna just hop in the car and drive there and hopefully muster up the confidence to walk thru the doors. Very nervous, but I just keep trying to look at it as a "have too". I would really like to hear from anyone who went and hear all about your experience. I just have no idea what to expect and I think that is what makes me nervous.

Michelle - I'm excited to hear about your first meeting. I've seen only two meetings--both times when a family member and friend had a kind of open house meeting and I attended. I was nervous just WATCHING. hope it went well, Lynn

NA meetings last anyware from 1hr to 2hr depending on how many people are there and how many people share or testify. I have been going to AA and NA meetings for over 25 years. I have never seen a child or baby there but would not care if there was one. The most important thing is the numcommer and there need for sobriety/clean time. Also if the meeting does run long you are always free to get up and leave at any time. So if it isn't over by 1:30 get up and leave and go get your kids. You may want to arrive a few min early and talk to a few people and ask to buy or get the NA textbook and brouchures that they have to hand out. Also try to get a couple of phone numbers of ladies that you can call during the week when the urge to use hits you and you are feeling low. Then call them because that is what they are there for. Good luck. My son just went to his first NA meeting last week. He feels out of place because he just smokes dope and doesn't think that he is addicted but he got tons of numbers and literature and was made to feel at home. He is looking forward to going back.
