I've got an ongoing problem with my 3 3/4 yr. son with autism. His diet is awful. He is gf/cf and has been so for nearly 6 months. He has always had loose or pasty stools and now he gets frequent rashes on his butt, hands and feet. He has a very limited diet and won't take vitamins of any kind, hidden or otherwise. I have had some success w/sublingual B6B12folic acid combo - I put behid his lip when he is sleeping. He only eats corn pasta w/ spaghetti sauce or gf/cf gravy, french fries, peaches, rice pancakes/waffles, gf/cf cookies, weiners and occasionally corn or peas. I've tried introducing small amts of new foods, only giving the new food (like a vegetable or meat) He won't take a bite. He's discovered every hidden vitamin I've tried (in juice, popsicles, pudding). Am I being overly optismistic in hoping for a more complete diet, in hoping to be able to get some calcium/vitamim D into him? Is this is as good as it gets? I feel if I could get his nutrition under control other improvements would follow? Is that unrealistic?
