I just wanted to know if there is a rule or anything against going out of state while on disability. I don't mean like going on an unauthorized vacation or anything, I just want to go check on a family member in another state for a weekend.

As far as I know there should be no problem. I am assuming that your disability income is provided by the federal government and therefore, there aren't any rules that would prevent you from going out of state. If you are receiving welfare through your state you may need to notify them. I think they actually suspend your payments if you are going to be out of state for a certain period of time.

If you are on SSI or SSDI you can travel out of state and still collect your benefits. You don't need to notify anyone unless you are moving or it is going to be a long period of time and you need to collect your check in a different location.
