How do you cope with long distance car journys? What do you do to prepare for and manage your child for a long time cooped up in the car?

hi, we bring a portable dvd player, so he can watch his favourite movie or show. we go over to europe once a year and the flight takes 8 hours. long time, we just bring a lot of his favourite things, cars, books. also try to give him melatonin if you go by night or some benadryl to calm him down. good luck.

We travel at night as well. There is less stress while they are sleeping. Andrew is very easily aggitated and long rides in the car are stressful to all of us. If it is during daylight hours, we make a lot of pitstops on the way so he can get out and run, run, run. The DVD player doens't seem to work very well with him.

We were recently able to get a car with a dvd player in it, and this has helped tremendously. We also bring favorite snacks, toys, and books for the kids to look at.
