My counselor announced his discovery that he believes I have aspbergers. I come to this forum seeking personal accounts or at least referrals to accounts that I can study, any info is appreciated. I made it through college and am 31, I also have bipolar disorder but my counselor thinks the aspberger's is what is kicking my butt since the bp is managed well by meds. Are there any meds I can take for aspbergers?

Hi,
Good to meet you. Yes there is lots of stuff online about Aspergers. I notice that you have mis spelled the word Aspergers. If you type it accurately into a search engine You will find a lot.
My daughter is 12, she has Aspergers and was diagnosed when she was age 8 by Dr Tony Attwood who has also written a few books about the subject.
Please look at getting a proper diagnosis rather than one person 'thinking' you 'might' have aspergers.
No there is no medication for Aspergers, it can't be fixed, as such. But there are medications for associated behaviours.
I think you have done well to have made it through school unsupported if you have Aspergers.
I hope you find your answers

Thanks for your reply.
As for college, all the professors wanted to strangle me because of my erratic productivity level and detail orientation -- art school. I trust this diagnosis but I will remain open just in case it's a mistake. It answers alot of questions about my social functioning -- in the small jobs I have had and in school there was room for eccentricities...
Thanks again- John
