Hello everyone.
This is my 2nd pregnancy with HSV-2. My first went well, I went on Valtrex 500mg, once daily 4 weeks prior to delievery and had a healthy baby girl vaginally.
For some reason I've been alot more concerned with this pregnancy. I didn't have any outbreaks the first 2 trimesters, and as soon as I got to the 3rd I've been cursed with them. I also have Type II diabetes, and Dr. is wanting to induce soon (I'm 38 weeks) so I've been taking Valtrex starting at 34 weeks and I've had to take up the dose to 1000mg a day because although I didn'y have an actual OB, I was sheading the virus while taking just 500mg. I know my body well enough to know the feeling.
I know that Valtex is Cat. B in pregnancy, so I'm not to worried about that. But I am worried about having another OB. Every little itch or irritation I have down there I start to panic. Which stress can bring them on. But I'm wondering if I can have my Dr. take a swab and test just to make sure and then plan to induce. I have no knowledge of anything like that because I've never been offered, but if there is I'd really like the option. I have an appointment on Monday, so any information would be great!
Sorry this is so long.
