Once you get treated for them do they go away forever like you never had it? If so then why is everyone sop devistated when they get them?

Some STD's stay in your body forever and can only be treated, others are cured. Some people are devistated because it causes questions about the fidelity of their partner also.

You are correct that they can be cured completely, but sometimes they cause internal scarring that can cause urinary and fertility problems, if it is not caught and treated in time. I would imagine that people are upset because it may make them feel "dirty" (public perceptions of those with STD's are that they are dirty or slutty), and could make them scared about what else they have. Also, it can be a big dose of reality to some people who think of themselves as "invinsible", or have that "it won't happen to me" mentality. I have herpes.....I would have LOVED to only have contracted one of the curable ones! :)
