View Full Version : should i worry?

Hello people, i have this doubt in my mind that has been bothering me sometimes, and it is related to heart. I don't have any family history of heart or other diseases, never been seriously sick (just used to have something related to asthma when i was 4 years old that was gone later) and have a healthy lifestyle (no smoking or drinking). Heart rates ok, blood pressure ok. However, there's something interesting that i never understood, relating to my heart. 4 years ago, when i was 18 (during that time i used to drink ocasionally and didn't exercise) i just came from a long 9 hours flight from spain, i just felt tired because of the trip, of course, and had an upset stomach that made me feel a little nauseous. When i was ready to sleep after the trip, i felt like if i still was in the plane (you know, that up and down feeling) and started dreaming about being in the plane but suddenly i blacked out, i could feel how my heart beats slowed down... a lot... i felt i was asfixiating.... then the beats came back normally for a while and got black again slow... then i woke up afraid and my heart was normal... i got very anxious for the next month but eventually it got off my mind. However sometimes i remember this and don't know if that was some dirty trick from my mind (dreaming about the plane) or a real issue because i know this felt real, i could felt my heart and the lack of oxygen that made me wake up . I exercise a lot now and eat very good, never had any other problem related to this.

Any input from you would be appreciate to let me know what can i do about it, because i tend to worry too much about little details. Thank you very much for your help.

I think if you add up the effects of the flight: 9 dreary hours, bad aircraft cabin air, jet lag (although it sounds like you flew in a bi-plane with the 9 hour torment), rotten food, tension, dragging luggage, aggravation of getting transportation to and from the airport...what you suffered might be common.

I wouldn't worry unless those symptoms start recurring.

(They've found some evidence of detrimental short-term heart effects of having circulation to the legs impaired for so long....strolling around the plane is a good idea....and of course there's that "Mile High Club" for a good STRETCH!;D)
