Hello everyone. My name is Tracy. I have a 4 year old son, Dylan, recently diagnosed PDD/NOS. I currently reside in Alabama. I'm a listener not a talker but I hope to learn a lot here. I have many oppinions about autism and it's possible origins. I will say first that I respect others and their oppinions. PLLLLLEASE let this board be different from the others!!!! Glad to be here. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif God Bless!

Hi! Welcome. I don't know how other boards are, but I view this one as a way to educate myself and get a lot of info that may or may not apply to my son. I don't think that most agree or disagree, I think we just all realize that autism isn't 'caused' by just one thing and each child has to be treated accordingly. Under the 'looking for other parents' post, I have met a few very nice ladies who have children VERY similar to mine. I just find it is nice to know that I am not the only one who struggles with an 8 year old that isn't potty trained, doesn't talk, but doesn't suffer from immune problems or intestinal problems. It is just support that is long overdue. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif WELCOME and I hope you find what you're looking for!!

Sherri.

Hi Tracy,

Welcome!!! You have come to the right place. This is probably the best place I have ever visited for support. Like eweejoe, I have talked to lots of nice people, who make you realize you are not alone. Hope you get as much out of this board as I do. Take care.

Sherry

My real name is Charlene, but I go by Charlie. I have a grandson who will be 4 in June. He doesn't speak very much--says mama, dada, and night, night, night. He was diagnosed with Kallmann's Syndrome when he was very young--mild hearing loss in one ear, moderate hearing loss in the other; can't smell or taste anything and he has one or two other problems, but I am not sure how to describe. Anyhow, while he is lying on the floor he will arch his back and sort of tilt his head back and just look at everything around him. He also put both of his hands out and examines them very closely. Very seldom does he just use the one hand. He also is fascinated with things that are round. He is in a special school in our county. I've asked him if they think that he might have a mild form of autism and they aren't sure since he is the first student with kallmann's. He just started standing on his own and will move around on things, but doesn't walk by himself. He will walk when you hold him by his hands and fingers. He also walks on his toes. He had a special stroller made since he outgrew his others. He also is still on baby food and when we try to give him the #3, but he gags on them. So he is still on #2's. He was late in starting to eat, and would not open his mouth for the longest time. But we've overcome that. He is on Ensure plus and has been on in some time because he needs some sort of nutrition. Can any one tell me some of their symptoms so I can know if he might have autism, or if these sound like some of your little ones might be doing. He is the most loving and friendly of all five of our grandchildren. He loves being with my husband and I.
