Ok, well I take 1 tylenol 3 per day almost every day. It helps with my headaches after work and puts me in a better mood. Sometimes I take 2 a day and now realize that I am dependent on it to a certain degree, I didn't mean for it get outa hand but I think now it is. I can go a day without it but the next day I don't totally crave it but I realize it will make me feal better and I just take one. Along with it I usually take a valium to relax (not the same time I take the t3, maybe a few hours later)
I want to stop taking it all together, its been a year and I have been pretty steady with taking one a day. Should I just stop cold turkey or try and slow down first ??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I should think you would be able to just stop the tylenol............ with few side effects............. but take great care with your use of valium. If you get addicted to valium - you cannot c/t off it.......... danger of seizures ........... have to taper really slowly.
You are really playing with fire here. Quit now while you have the chance................... or you will go on down the path and end up in hell like most of us in here.

Yinskey, thanks for the response. I think you are right, I beleive that I can stop the T3's and not be to bad, I may just have to grin and bear it for a few days hopefully. The Valium definatly has a hold on me. Any idea's of cutting that down? I take about 2 10mgs's a day, I skip days a few times a week. Should I also slowly start to taper down on the Valium. Maybe go down to 1 a day or something?
I am definatly not in the denial stage anymore but the "I want this S&*^ to stop mode" it sure is tough though.
Anyone with any ideas please post, I could use the help. Thanks!

Parker, yiinsky is right about the valuim but if you take it like you say you should not have that much of a problem getting off it either if you go through a day with out with no w/d's then it shold be okay I was on 10mg of klonipin my doc cut it to 4 then 2 then off now he's got me on xanax. it's for sleep I also take ambian. I have been on the two benzo'a for 2 yrs with a break about every 3months or so I have never had w/d's from them but every one is different taper if you need to. why are you on valum any ways?

Thanks Staceyy, I will try and see how far I get. I started taking valium really to help sleep and relax me. I tend to be uptight and anxious a lot and I found that vallium really helps, I just think I have been overdoing it and would like to taper down. Not totally stop since it does help but I don't want to have to depend on valium. Xanax just knocks me out so I am not even going to go back and try them.

Hello Parker
Just following on the advice by Stacey above.
Hopefully - as you have been taking it intermittently - you will be able to taper off reasonably fast. Just dont c/t.
A reasonable sort of taper is to reduce by 10% every week - so if you are in the habit of taking 20 mg - then cut 2 mg off per week until you get to 10mg, and then cut 1 mg until you get to 5 mg, then .5 mg until you get off. You may well be able to taper faster than this - it all depends on how long and how much you have been using.
I had taken 2 mg of ativan for 1 year on a fairly regular basis (2 mg ativan = 20 mg valium) but I was not so lucky as Stacey - I could not get off them at all. I tried and got into terrible trouble in withdrawal - had to reinstate to 20 mg valium and then tapered off slowly over 8 months. I have to tell you that it was very very difficult - very painful. So please dont let this go on - get a hold on it now?
The best site on the net.......... is the benzo org uk site - just type in benzo org into google and you will find. The method of taper is as written in the Ashton Manual - again - you should read this - it is available to read online (can download and print - if you wish - I certainly have a copy).
Information is very important and you can get all the info you need there.
My advice would be not to switch to xanax - it is more potent than valium and because of the way it acts - it is very difficult to withdraw from. Valium is the easiest of the benzos to withdraw from because of its long action in the body. Xanax is very short.
In fact - in order to withdraw from xanax - the Ashton Manual suggests switching to valium first and then tapering.
Good luck - if I can help any more - just ask?

Thanks a lot Yinskey! Again! This is day 2, no tylenol/valium yesterday and hopefully none today although I may do the taper thing with the valium and start at like 1 10mg a day for a while. Its a tough time because I am very stressed right now due to family illness and job stress which I am sure we all have.
Wish me luck! I will keep an update to all you nice folks on my progress...

if you're really serious about getting off th t3 do it now 1 to 2 a day is not to bad the higher you go the worse it's gonna be and about the valium do one thing at once don't try to stop to many things at the same time at least you're aware that it's the start of a problem and can do away with it before it gets worse hang in there and do it when you're ready hope i helped kelleigh :)
