Hello,
I am hoping someone may know or have heard of our problem. My husband and I have been trying to concieve for just over a year now. We finally went to get tested, and in this we found out my husband has a very low count, and mobility. me have also find out other things, but I will start from when he was younr.
my mother in-law told us that when my husband was almost a year old he had sergery for a hernis, but he also had a testie that did not decend. He also had the chicken pox when he was 18 years old. now my husband has came out and said that for the last few years he has had pain when he ejaculated. He said it felt as if he testie had retracted up, which they are not suppose to do. We are wondering if this is our problem for infertility, and if it is how good are our chances of becoming pregnant? We both really want a little one, and are hoping that we will still be able to have one.

thank you for your time.

Your husband needs to se a Urologist. My husband had a low count and low motility, his was caused by vericoseal's so he had surgery for it. A Urologist should definately be able to tell you what and if there is a problem with your husband.

Hope I helped some
Good luck

I agree with Siobahn. My husband had terrible morphology, but his count and motility were fine. Anyway, his urologist immediately found a varicosele in his left testicle, which is a main cause of male infertility. He had surgery to repair it, and we're just waiting to see if it made any difference.

Good luck to you guys!

First of all, try not to give up hope. My husband was diagnosed with low sperm count about 2 years ago. His count was approx. 2 million per ml. He had a biopsy done and and urologist said that some areas of his testicle were producing normal amounts of sperm, but some were not. He said that no cause could be identified. We were referred to a fertility specialist, Dr. Williams. Dr. Williams informed us that our only option was ICSI unless his count could get up to atleast 5 million per ml. Over the months while I was having tests done to ensure that I have no fertility problems, my husband and I decided to the he should try to eat better, get more exercise, and take vitamins. I also read that cod liver oil was good for male fertility so my husband started taking cod liver oil capsules and a multivitamin. About two months after he started taking the cod liver oil capsules he had his count checked and it had risen to 10 million per ml, and about 3 months after that he had it checked again and it was up to 20 million per ml. We just found this out about a week ago when we went to see Dr. Williams. Now that his count is up to 20 million per ml, we can try IUI once I start my period this month. The doctor advised that with my husbands count at 20 million, that I could even get pregnant naturally this month. I am being hopefull that it will happen this month and I won't even have to start IUI.

Remeber that nothing is impossible so never give up hope or faith. Best of luck to you.

Hi,

Other things your DH can do to help sperm count and motility are to avoid hot tubs, marathon training, and to wear boxer shorts insread of briefs. If the sperm are too warm, they die. Chicken pox when a teen can cause future fertility problems. If his testicle is drawing too far up, he may need surgery to correct that.

As has been said, he needs to see a urologist.

Good luck, Barbara
