We all know that HIV effects the immune system and the number of T-cells. However, does HIV live in the white cells of blood or does it eventually invade every cell of the body? Is the DNA of a HIV positive person altered as a result of the infection?

What research, if any has been done on completely replacing the blood volume of an infected person? Synthetic blood products are on the market now and have a high success rate. Has there been any research on completely killing off one's immune system with chemotherapy and replacing it with that of a marrow donor?

Just curious...

that is a great question. one i have thought of many many times. perhaps we should find one of those "ask the Dr." sites and see what they say. i personally do not know the answer
