I had shingles a year ago, with the blisters heaviest on my lower left leg and foot. I also had a few spots on my lower back/buttocks. It was a long, painful seige. Now I have some new spots (bumps) on my lower back in about the same place as before. They are itching and burning like fire. They don't seem to be open blisters that will form scabs (although I can't really see them). I'm just wondering what all forms the skin eruptions can take. My internist is out of town. I'd appreciate hearing other's experience with this.

Thanks.

I would say that if you are having the same symptoms as you did with your first outbreak that you go see the doctor right away so that they can start you on some medication to shorten the outbreak. I'm talking about the tingling under the skin and the redness along with the pain. If you wait longer than 72 hours after the rash appears it will be too late for you to benefit from those medications.

Thank you. My doctor is out of town and the office is closed this week. The pharmicist is calling in a refill (from the last time) for me to another dr.
