 I've tried over 6 different labels, all cuts and all sizes, and I think the next thing I'll try on will be some maternity jeans! Don't know about the rest of you ladies but I just can't find any that fit well. Either the waist is way too big on the back side of the pants and not enough in the front or they ride way too high, like Steve Urkel's, or they fit in the waist and bag every where else. What are we to do, quit wearing jeans? I tried some with elastic in the waist and then you have all the lumpy, bumpy extra fabric between the waist and hip that seems to just bunch up under your shirt and make you look that much bigger. Maternity jeans have that stretch panel in the front and wouldn't have all the extra fabric bunching up but getting shirts that are long enough to cover the panel may be a problem. I do fairly well with dress slacks that have the elastic just in the sides of the waistband but haven't seen any jeans made this way. If any of you ladies that suffer from menotummy as I do have found jeans that are both comfortable and flattering I wish you'd let me in on the brand. The work I do calls for heavy fabrics like denim to stand up to the every day wear and tear but I'm really tired of being cut in two at the waist or having room enough in the seat for an extra cheek. Help me if you can, please. cg

I love my jeans from Penneys call Cabin Creek. The waist is elastic and I can get them in bigger sizes as I keep growing. I hope I stop gaining weight some day.

Cowgal,
I'm with Charli (Csoar) - I think LandsEnd have pretty good fitting jeans. :bouncing: I got several pairs from them. I'm on the short side so they come in petite sizes too. Was leary about ordering by mail, but if you take your measurements and match it to their size chart, they do fit. The jeans were actually looser than I expected too.

Thanks, ladies. I'll probably try the Lands End as Ive already tried the Faded Glory and the Cabin Creek. There are a couple of styles in the Levis line that fit better than anything I have but here in Podunk USA they are hard to find. Have to drive 100 miles to get anywhere and I've never liked to shop so the mailorder or internet order is right up my alley. I just long for the days when I could fit into an 8 in any brand I happened to pick up. cg

I don't have much advice to offer, but couldn't resist jumping into this thread as the jeans situation has also gotten so frustrating!! Shopping used to be enjoyable when, as you say, you could just pick up anything in a size 8 and fit into it. Now, ugh. Two years ago I did find a style of Bill Blass Stretch jeans which fit almost perfectly, and had that little 'give' to them so you never felt bound up. Well, a year later they made them 'new and improved' and now they don't fit as well. The size I wore before is too large on me now, but going a smaller size and they are too tight! Hate this! I will give the Lands End a try as well.

I only wear stretch jeans now too. I found some good ones at the Gap and also at a Guess outlet store in Las Vegas. With stretch jeans I can wear a smaller size which makes me feel better.

Sunshine, the only problem I really have with the stretch jeans is that they are mostly too tight in the thigh area and I think this accentuates my saddlebags. If I get some that are not so tight in the thighs then they usually are way too big in the waist. Guess the jean dilemma is the reason I spend most of my time in sweats. I wear coveralls nearly all day in the cold weather so they cover up whatever I have on underneath but with the warmer weather coming I'd really like to find some jeans and maybe jean shorts that fit well enough that I can be in them all day every day. Spent most of last summer in sweat shorts and they were the most comfortable thing I've ever found to work in but there are some days that I'd like to look a bit neater.
For all, wouldn't you just love to have someone come in and do you a complete makeover, from hair and makeup down to clothes? I know that I've not felt like fixing up for the last year to year and a half, major chore just to get out of bed in the morning, see that everyone else is fed and has clean clothes, that the house is clean and bills paid. I put on my makeup right after getting breakfast and then pull my hair back and it's off to work. Still using the same makeup techniques I used 15 years ago and still have the same way of styling my hair. Basically in a big old rut of my own creation. We try to eat out with friends one night a week and I will curl my hair and put on a little more makeup that night but then to try to find something that looks good on this aging body drags my spirits down enough that I don't enjoy myself.
Ordered some Lands End jeans yesterday and I hope I'm not disappointed. Still may try on some maternity jeans next time I'm shopping to see if they will fulfill my needs while working. I'm in my sweatshorts today and they're a little better than regular sweatpants as far as neatness is concerned. Would be nice to have clothes on the store racks that were made for our age and not our daughter's or our mother's.
Thanks to all for you input and suggestions. Would be nice if I could lose about 20 pounds and then maybe I wouldn't have a problem finding jeans. You all have a great day. cg

They're the most comfortable I've found.I have been wearing Lands End jeans for years. Way before all this "stuff" started with peri. I wear alot of their clothes and use items from their Lands End Home division. The jeans I buy are the relaxed fit. They are two inches larger in the seat and thigh. I am pear shaped. Some of their clothes are cut fuller so you have to buy a size smaller. They have a chart on their website and in their cataloge. So you can measure and buy the right size. If for any reson at any time you can return any item for a full refund minus shipping costs. You can't beat them for quality. They are just a little pricey. The jeans are $29.50 and I have paid much more for other brands of jean. I also like it because I wear a 29.5 inseam and they will hem or cuff your pants to your inseam at no addt'l charge. If you haven't tired them you should. If you don't like them send them back. I have been a loyal Lands End customer for years and have never been disappointed. Their is enough going on in my life with this peri-menopause, I need for everything to go smoothly and my jeans to fit! :D

Hi Penny,
It's amazing how some of us have so much in common! I also do a lot of shopping with Lands End, but my inseam is 27 only. The custom inseam is great - don't have to hem them (I don't iron and I don't hem!) I have the Natural, Slim and Relaxed fit. Since I work at home, I live in jeans and t-shirts! L.L. Bean is another good place to shop. Haven't tried their jeans - think they are similar to Lands End tho, but they have great barn jackets! Prices are reasonable too! Don't you just love shopping on the Internet? :bouncing: In my younger days, I used to love to go shopping for clothes and shoes - now I'm not interested and don't even like what's out there. I prefer shopping stuff for my house (a sign of getting older?), plus I really don't need so much clothes!

No wonder we had an instant connection! Paxil CR and Lands End!! Two great things! LOL I would so love to buy the slim fit but as I said I am pear shaped!! But actually I had rather have a bigger behind than a fat stomach! My stomach is still almost flat! :) But women like you who can wear the slim fit now that is the way to go--- a small everything! Oh well I just stay with my relaxed fit and be happy! I still love to go to the mall and shop. I went Friday and did well. So I like both internet shopping and the mall. I do love to decorate the house too. I have bought several hundred dollars worth of home decor from the cataloge Petals. I have also spent several hundred dollars on Lands End Home items. All of our linens are Lands End and they are monogrammed! I love monogramming! :) I hope you have a great week. I start back on my natural progesterone tomorrow. I will be my own judge of the dosage this month and see how it goes. Have a great week!! :bouncing:

Penny,
Is your memory fading now??? :D We have more than just 2 things in common! We both work from home, remember? (Sure doesn't look like we do much work since we seem to be posting all the time, huh?! ha-ha-ha!) Also, we are both cool because we're dog people! Woof-woof! We also both started having our symptoms the same month (Aug 03).
Trust me, I'm not all that slim. I couldn't fit my Slim jeans for the longest time. I'm able to get into them recently after I started doing my walking tapes!! [hint, hint...] Slim jeans tend to be tapered leg too - b/c I'm only 5'1-3/4 (yeah, not even 5'2"), the Relaxed fit tends to make my legs look shorter, but they're looser and more comfortable ytoo.
Isn't it so easy to spend hundreds of dollars? I never ordered the Lands End sheets. How's the quality? Do you know if they have sheets for wide mattresses? One set of nice sheets are so expensive!
I still haven't used the progesterone cream I got. Since I haven't had a period and I'm doing fine, I don't know when and if I should be using it.
Now, get to work!! :nono:

It is 9:30 pm central time and I am closing down everything in my office for the night -- see I do work and post!! :D We have Sterns & Foster mattresses on both beds and they are very thick. I use the Lands End Supima Cotton knit sheets on both. They are $68.00 for the fitted sheet and $68.00 for the flat sheet. I know they are expensive but they are SO worth it! I also use their primaloft blankets on both beds and their polartech blankets. I am very picky about my bed!!!!!!! I am high maintenance when it comes to comfort!! When we are away at my mothers or sisters I literally kiss my bed when I get home! :D As far as the cream, I have read that post - meno women use it everyday, but I guess you are not really sure if you are peri or post huh? So I don't know on that. Yes we do have much more in common than I counted! Just blame it on the peri!!!! ;) Post when you can I love hearing from you!! :D

Hi Penny,
Thanks for the bedsheet info. Along with all the meno-related info I've learned from you and others on this board, this is another piece of info I am jotting down.
Glad to hear you are had a productive workday afterall! :bouncing: I was worried that you were spending just too much time posting (ha-ha) instead of working [I should talk!] ! I know you have those deadlines coming up and don't want you getting stressed over it. Stress can bring on the anxiety again. But, you seem to be managing things just fine ....
I am in peri. I believe you have to not have a period for 12 straight months to be considered in actual menopause. I am going on my 5th month of not having it. On another post, Charli suggested I use the cream once a day.
Have a good day!!!

 MollyThat is a good idea from Charli. Once a day then see how it goes and if you notice any negative effects you can cut back or just not use it. I had to take my oldest "baby" Trace to the vet today. He is 10 years old. He has an immune related crusty stuff on the edge of his ears and he has had a lipoma for five years and it has gotten bigger and the vet had to check another lump he thinks that one is a lipoma as well, but we won't know for 24 hours. He is scheduled for surgery in two weeks to have the lipoma removed and his teeth cleaned and I have to apply meds to the ears meanwhile and then they made need some work on them during surgery. So "mama" will have a little more stress and anxiety now-- just what I needed! I am CRAZY about my two "babies"!!! :bouncing: Anyway all that said to say the vet is brilliant knows something about everything. He was telling me that serotonin was lowest in our brains in the months of November-April. He said when we have a problem like mine that time of year is worse. He says since I am on the Paxil CR to help retain my serotonin I should see a real difference in May and feel much better. I am sure you will too! :bouncing: Hope you are having a good day!

Hi Penny,
I most definitely understand your worry and concern for Trace! I am the same way it it comes to my baby. I am sure he will be fine. If I remember right, you have mini-schnauzers. They are a long-lived breed. If you're vet is good, I would assume he has already done a blood test before Trace has the surgery and teeth cleaning to make sure all his organs are functioning fine. My baby had her teeth cleaned twice already. Because she is a small breed, I asked that she be given Isoflovene (sp) - it is a very mild anesthetic. My vet was very impressed with my knowledge! LOL! There is suppose to be a newer one that is even better but I don't remember the name. I'll find out cuz I really should know this. A neighbor's dog has several of lumps all over for years. He looks lumpy, is lumpy so I call him "Lumpy" even tho that isn't his name. LOL! :D Anyway, you hang in there - everything will be fine! Don't let Trace sense your worry. These guys are pretty tough and 10 years isn't that old for a schnauzer.
If our serotonin are lowest in our brains in the months of November-April, and I have been feeling pretty good since January, does that mean I will be even better and maybe even "veddy veddy perky" just like Charli? :bouncing: :bouncing: Maybe it won't be a time for me to wean off the Paxil....
Here's to good days only!!

Molly :)Hi Molly,
Thanks for your post about Trace. I have always been overprotective about he and Roxy way before all this peri stuff started. My vet is very good. He is a brilliant man. He knows about where I am with all this anxiety stuff, and he understands how I am about my babies. We have not done Trace's blood work yet. But we will before surgery. I have a complete blood profile done on both of mine each year. It isn't due until June but we will do Trace early. He listened to his heart today for several minutes, he says Trace's heart is very strong. I am sure this new lump is a lipoma also but I will be glad when the aspiration results are in tomorrow to confirm it is a lipoma. I know 10 is not old for a schnauzer and he is still in good health other than the things I mentioned. Now are far as being "vedy vedy perky" like Charli--- I just don't know about that! LOL She is way ahead of us, but we will catch up!! :bouncing: I start Trace's at home ear treatment tomorrow. I do that for two weeks. I will keep you posted on how it goes and my hormone imbalance. Boy is it ever an imbalance!! :) Post again soon!!

Hi Penny,
Overprotective? I don't think so..you are just being a very responsible, loving and caring mom! I am exactly the same way. We both don't have children, so our dogs are our kids! Ok, I can't get started about talking dogs b/c I can go on and on about my love for them! :)
Are you still off balanced? I thought you've been feeling better? Go shopping, I'm sure it will get you back in balance!! LOL!
BTW, keep us posted on Trace. I am so bad...I didn't do any work yesterday - spent a lot of time on the board here! :nono: Oh well....

You ladies make me smile. I too have no kids and 4 dogs that are my babies. Also an 18 yo cat, she'll probably outlive us all. And I'm self employed even tho I have to leave my house to work. Not trying to get in the middle of your repartee but have found it amusing. Don't stop. cg

Could't help jumping in here- on a few things lol.
First- the jeans thing- very frustrating, I can't stand this low rise stuff, I am in my mid 30's have 4 kids and stretch marks- I really don't want my stomach showing like my daughters do! SO, best ones I have found are Victorias Secret and Newport News- both sell on the internet and in a catalog- come in various lengths and rises for all body types and are pretty reasonable.
Second- Cowgirl- I have 4 kids a dog and a cat! I had a cat that lived to be 18 too!

Hi Cowgal,
Please join in!!!! The more, the merrier! I have been on many boards and e-mail groups where I felt some posters get very "clicky" and only respond among themselves and others get ignored. I would post and no one would respond. I notice these patterns of behavior - it wasn't my imagination! I hated that. I don't want anyone to feel this way. Yoohoo  to others out there!! - you are all welcome to chat/post with us! This whole menopause thingie can be fun if we all make it fun - laughter and good company are always good for the soul! Maybe we should eventually start a new thread....
Do you ever get to work from home? No kids either, huh? But 4 dogs! WOW! What kind of dogs do you have? If I had 4 dogs running around, I would be in heaven! Anyway, they are the greatest! ... Ok, cats are too (I don't know much about cats - never had one). I had two little dogs that lived to be 18. I was devastated when I had to put them down. I am surprised I survived the loss! I can't live w/o a dog in my home! It gets me out!

Hi Maak,
I can't stand those low-rise stuff either, that's maybe why I don't like shopping at the stores these days, plus they're intended for the teens. That's all they seem to be selling. My nephew is 16 and he wears his pants so low - he looks gang member, not to mention like a midget! Can't stand the look. He also has a nice head of hair but he shaves his hair off too.
You're only in your mid 30's and you have 4 KIDS, a dog and a cat??? Wow! You sure have a handful! How are you dealing with all this - are you having bad peri-meno symtoms on top of all this? BTW, I am a really dummy when it comes to kids ... not around them, don't have many friends who even have kids for some reason....but that doesn't mean I can't make new friends with kids.
There are jeans at Victoria Secret? I thought they sold mostly underwear stuff...(this gives you a clue how long I haven't shopped at stores!!!)

LOL- yes, its a handful plus I work full time- have to with 4 of them!!! I swear I am getting the symptoms, my mom went through it at 40 - and its the emotional crap that drives me nuts- maybe its bad PMS, but anyway!
Yep- get the Victorias Secret CATALOG- they only sell them from there, and online, not in the stores. They are great jeans- I need a 34" inseam, so I can never find jeans in the stores anyway ;) They have a lot of cute clothes too.
I really get tired of the fashion industry trying to dress me like i am 16. Sorry- been there, done that, don't want to go back there again! Have you seen the parachute pants that are back in style? OMG

I have 3 dump-me dogs and a border collie. Two of the others were abandoned at our farm and the female was pregant when she showed up and I kept one of the pups. Sissy is Chihuahua mix, her pup Rhonda has a lot of beagle in her so we call her a cheagle, and then Gus, my 16 yo, is a Shepherd mix. I've had Sissy for 8 years so that makes Rhonda about 8 since she came along within a couple of weeks after her mom showed up. Jake the border collie is a working cow dog and just turned 2 this past December. Jake and Gus stay at the farm with Jake getting to make an occasional outing back to our house in town-Gus could go but he chooses not to ride. Had a cocker that lived to be 14, another border collie to 15, another shepherd-chow that I'd had for 13 years but he was grown when he showed up so who knows how old he was, a big white cat that lived with me for 14 years-Red's (the 18 yo cat) partner in crime, i.e. scratching furniture, and have 4 cows that have had 11-12 babies each which makes them 14-15 years old. Guess I have a thing for geriatric animals.
Do any of you remember wearing bell bottom hip huggers when you were teens? I had some that barely covered the crease on my backside and some skirts that were so mini I couldn't sit without my panties showing so I carried a sweater to put in my lap. Oh to be in good enough shape to wear them again and not gross everybody out. I love the Maxine cartoons because they are sooooooo true. Been a year since a period so I guess I truly can call myself a menowoman. Need a Tshirt that says "peri survivor". I really do feel a lot better the past couple of months than I have in 2-3 years. Haven't asked but do you suppose the suffering of peri is worse or less for those of us without kids as opposed to those with kids? Maybe an idea for another thread. Still haven't rec'd my LandsEnd jeans yet. Weather's warm enough for my sweatshorts. By the way, it would be a little tough to inseminate cows at my house-that's one of the things I do at work. Would love to live at the farm but at the time we moved we didn't want to wait to build a house. Have threatened to move a camper trailer out here so I wouldn't have to commute those 9 miles.

LOL- yes, its a handful plus I work full time- have to with 4 of them!!! I swear I am getting the symptoms, my mom went through it at 40 - and its the emotional crap that drives me nuts- maybe its bad PMS, but anyway!
You must be so tired ! When was the last time you slept? It sure seems like once you have kids, you never sleep again! LOL! I also feel for you if you're already having symptoms. Mid-30's seems so young! I feel lucky to have cruised through my 30's and 40's. Are you holding up OK? It could be PMS stuff or just stress from all that you have going on!
Yep- get the Victorias Secret CATALOG- they only sell them from there, and online, not in the stores. They are great jeans- I need a 34" inseam, so I can never find jeans in the stores anyway ;) They have a lot of cute clothes too.
34" inseam? My goodness, how tall are you - 6'1" or something? You must be one of those Victoria Secret models, huh? I don't get the catalog anymore - guess I can get one online.
I really get tired of the fashion industry trying to dress me like i am 16. Sorry- been there, done that, don't want to go back there again! Have you seen the parachute pants that are back in style? OMG
All the things that are back in style aren't very appealing to me. I can't even believe I used to wear bell bottoms and platform shoes!!! Such a dork! LOL! I really hate dressing up these days. Gotten lazy - I live in jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts. :D
Take care,
Molly

Hi CG,
What a big heart you have to take on these dogs! What an unusal combo tho - a Chihuahua mix and Beagle? What is Sissy mix with? She can't be one of teeny tiny Chihuahuas. Gus...a shepherd mix and 16? bless his heart... what a real trooper!! I'm sure Jake enjoys working ...that particular breed needs that job.
Inseminate COWS s at your house??? Huh? Inside your house? What do you mean you would love to live at the farm? Don't you???? Where do you live then? I'm a city girl so all this is new to me!
Yes, I remember the hip huggers and the mini!! LOL! ..do you remember hot pants??? and go-go boots??? My mother sew a lot of our clothes too. My sister and I were like Mutt & Jeff - she was always a head taller than me even tho we're only a year apart. We would have matching outfits! Geezzzzz!! It was so embarrassing!! By the way, you will be in good shape again - I heard that you get your shape back after you're through with menopause! That's why you see all these little (old) ladies in their late 60's, 70's, and 80's skinner than most of us who are in our 40's-50's!!! We'll have the skinny body, but then we'll be complaining about our sagging faces! LOL!!
Ok, serious business here...if you haven't had a period for a year, you are in menopause!! Congrats! You are in the same class as Charli!! You should be veddy veddy perky now! What symptoms do you have?
I read in Northrup's book that women who got their first period at a younger age will go thru meno later in life and those who had it later would start earlier. I don't know if it matters if you had kids or not tho.
Well, let us know what you think of the Lands End jeans. What style did you get?

Just plain relaxed fit in a 12. I've got lots of shape now it's just not in all the right places. Mom always said men get big guts and women get big butts. I'm in the apple category right now. Starting to get the thinner legs but everything else settles between the hips and the armpits. Thought our bosoms would shrink but I'm at least a cup, maybe 2 bigger than I used to be. Could just be the weight gain though. My Sissy's got the same problem as I. She looks more Chihuahua than anything else but she's a good bit bigger than most you see. Had her spayed after the pups and she weighed 11#. Now she's up to 17. I'm very careful about what she gets to eat and make sure she walks with me but she's pretty round, just like her mom. My old man, Gus, is still in pretty good shape but he's beginning to slow down a bit and sleep more. Hope he's able to just go to sleep peacefully for good one of these days. He's been a wonderful watch dog, barks but NEVER bites. Just a good old dog.
I'm still having the occasional hot flash, some trouble sleeping but very few of the lay awake all-nighters, have to watch what I eat-all the veggies seem to give me gas, and have just been put on hi bp meds. No hormones. I take a couple of herbal blends with all the estrogenic plants and have been for a couple of years and they really do help. As for the start early, stop later, I don't know. I started having periods when I was eight, summer between 2nd and 3rd grade, and I just turned 48 on March 8. Granted I only have 1 ovary left. Had one removed when I was 39. Started with the peri symptoms about 44-45, starting skipping periods at 46, and now at 48 it's been 14 months since I had one. I tried telling Dr. Gyno that I was entering perimenopause when I was 44 and he laughed. Guess who's not laughing today. We know our bodies better than anyone. Didn't get the weight gain until I stopped having regular periods but I felt so bad every month before that I know I didn't eat for 2 weeks out of every month, just sort of picked at my food. Never had a tummy before so it really bugs me. Also could do low fat for a couple of months and lose 10-15 pounds. Not so, now. I watch every thing that I eat and still have trouble with the pounds. I started walking 1-1/2 miles every other day a couple of weeks ago and am seeing some results in the butt and thighs but my buddha belly's still with me. Other than the weight and the slight bp problem, I'm disgustingly healthy. Dr. told me to add some weight training on the days that I don't walk and he thought I might lose some more. We'll see. Get lots of physical activity at work but it's different. Most of that is upper body.
We relocated our dairy about 4 years ago-moved to a better climate for the cows and fewer people around. We rented a place about 30 miles from where we are now for a couple of years while we got the new one built. I really couldn't see trying to tend to the cows, build the new facility and build a house all at the same time so we bought a house in town. And I was serious about the camper trailer. Seems when I'm here, I'm always finding something else to do and when I'm home I worry about what's going on here. Hubby loves living off the farm because nobody comes knocking on the door when we're at home now like they did when we lived on the previous farms.
All the symptoms do start to ease as your body readjusts itself. And maybe the belly will shrink too. Only time will tell.
What kind of work do you do? Tell us more about you. I'm always interested to meet other women as I don't get exposed to too many in my work.
And hats off to Maak with her 4 blessings. I have nothing but admiration for those who choose to raise kids. I made the choice not to, never felt I had the time, energy, or resouces to take on a family. I love being around kids for a while but then I'm ready for them to go back to their parents.

LOL
Sleep?? Whats that?? I have no idea!!
I can remember wearing that stuff too, now my daughters are wearing it- hell I just should have kept it and they would be all set! :)
I am only 5'7", but I am all legs- normal length jeans are always too short, never fails- so I always go for the Talls. I have a friend that is the same way, I HATE buying clothes- nothing ever fits right. LOL
All the things that are back in style aren't very appealing to me. I can't even believe I used to wear bell bottoms and platform shoes!!! Such a dork! LOL! I really hate dressing up these days. Gotten lazy - I live in jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts. :D
Take care,
Molly

Hello, hope you don't mind if I jump on board, I have enjoyed reading the responses and have to say...I'm not alone on my quest for finding the right pair of jeans.
OK, stats as of today..42 years old female / body is like a womans but my mind thinks I'm still 29....I'm 5feet tall, 120 pounds depends on who's asking and what time of month it is. Have the JLO butt, with thigh to match due to being gymnast in high school and continued it till my 30's and believe it or not I still can do half the stuff..Body type: Husky in my terms.
Day at the Mall to buy jeans..
Put on my happy face and tell myself I want a new pair of jeans.
I will not spend more the $30.00.....Go to couple stores, having no luck..
Up my price on buying jeans to $40.00.....Continue on trying more and more jeans.
2 hours later still not luck, getting tired, up my price on a pair of jeans to $50.00
Hairs a mess.... My smile has turned into pissed off don't mess with me look, I'm angry now. I just wanted a pair of New Jeans!
3 hours later...STILL no luck! Up my price to $70 or $80 jeans...
Damn jeans, either too long, too tight, not my style, can't wear those hip huggers I am not a teenager...damn!
What are they thinking making these jeans in my size? They look awful and make me look older then I want to be.....
OK.... it's just me, I'm too short, too fat, old, and ugly!
3 1/2 hours later on my mission to buy myself a pair of decent jeans...
Go home with No Jeans, bad mood, Hate myself, hate everyone.
Call my best friend who is Tall, Beautiful, Thin with a Model Figure, and SHE tells me SHE can't find a Paif of Jeans either...
Start to Laugh, throw on my Gap sweatpants and have a drink!
My sister in law calls me, who is also TALL, Beautiful, Thin, model figure tells me she gets her jeans at JC Penny (I never thought to shop there for jeans]). I love the Gap, Express, Filenes, Old Navy, American Eagle[/SIZE] SHE, Tells me about their Jeans, "Arizona" size 6 short length, price $29.99 on sale for $19.99, using credit card during sale another another 20% off total price of awsome fitting jeans for ME = $16 bucks! What do I do, buy three pairs!
Now, they better not stop making them!

GH, I think we can all sympathize about shopping. I wore the same brand/style jeans for 10 years before I had to throw in the towel and admit that they just wouldn't fit. But did I go up one size, HECK NO. Had gained enough in my tummy to have to go up 2 sizes. And crunches and situps don't help all that much. Anyway, the same style in a bigger size just didn't fit well so I'm still on the quest for jeans that don't gap in the back and squeeze me double in the tummy when I stoop, squat, or sit. There's a lot to be said, and not kind words mind you, for my sloppy fat girl sweats but at least they're comfortable. I like your word "husky". I always used chunky to describe my body shape. I'm only 5'4" but I weigh 150. The big problem is that the 10 pounds I've gained-was 20 but I managed to get 10 back off-is all in my middle.
Today I'm in denim shorts with the elastic waist. They're ok but I've tried the jeans with the elastic waist and hated those. Guess I should just learn to do what I need without stooping, squatting or sitting. Just stand all day long. lol Ahh, well, perhaps the LandsEnd will get here soon-just hope they're better than what I've tried at the stores. Found some Cruel Girl's that fit nicely, were not too uncomfortable for new jeans but the price was pretty steep for me-$79. Only place that had them around here was a western wear store. My quest continues. cg

Cowgal, I feel your pain....I hate those Elastic waist pants but a girl has to do what a girl has to do.
In my search for finding the right pair of jeans, I also checked out the Mens or Boys department..LOL that is why I now call myself Husky, while doing laundry one day folding my son's jeans that I thought were MINE, I decided to try them on and was shocked that they fit pretty damn good on me except for the length, I'm 5 feet tall...at the time he was
I think 5'4 (he's now almost 6 feet) so that is when I told myself to go to the boys department and try on some jeans in husky! Get this, I can put on a pair of BOYS, size 14 husky and they are too big, size 12 is too small but this was at Walmart on a rainy day of just shopping. So I know I can go to a boy's department and try on a pair of Levis and will probably find a boy's jean to fit and they are cheaper..LOL Just a thought for you.

GH, I lived in men's wrangler jeans for all of my 20's into my early 30's. Not only did they fit well but they were much heavier denim and would last so much longer and as you pointed out, much less expensive. My shape changed in the late 30's and has changed again now in my late 40's. I did try a pair of men's levis on awhile back but I remember the waist size I was buying in the wranglers and when I had to add so many inches to get what I needed now not only was I bummed out but then they were too tight in the butt. Should have tried on the relaxed fit-they might have been better. The biggest problem I have with most of the womens jeans is that the rise is too tall or long-whichever is the correct term. They come all the way up on my ribcage and are horribly uncomfortable. All of my height is in my upper body. When I try on the lower rise jeans most of them are too low and then my tummy sort of pooches out-another no-no. Absolutely hate my shape right now. You'd think if I hate it that much I'd be motivated to get up and do more. I make a pretty mean couch potato.

Hi Cowgal,
Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you. There has been so many postings lately, I've gotten cofused and forgotten if I made a response or not! LOL! Well, let us know how you like the Lands End jeans. I bet they will be looser than you expect....at least I thought so...
Used to lay around night after night too...this went on for probably 10 years. It was very frustrating to keep tossing and turning!! I have learned to let it not bother me anymore. I also have to remind myself that since I work from home, I don't have to get up a particular time anyway (lucky me!!). Now I'm sleeping better anyway, but I'm also taking Tylendol PM occasionally too.
You asked what kind of work I do. I work for an engineering/consulting company who allows me to work full time from home. I get benefits too. I am their technical analyst, which means nothing really. I do all their document design work, marketing brochures, web stuff, proposals, shoot computer problems, anything and everything that no one else wants to do. Everyone in this company, incl. myself, used to work for a large corporation which we all hated. Everyone left, these guys started this small company and now we'll all together. Many of us work from home or at a client job site. It has been the best thing that ever happened to me. I know I'm lucky to have landed something like this. These guys known me for years so they know my work ethics and abilities, and I was offered the job without ever having to leave the house (no interviewing, no resume). The "downside" I guess working from home is that one can feel isolated. Most of my friends now are my neighbors and their dogs. I rather work from home anyday, be alone, and take a pay cut even than to work in a corporate world where I used to - I lacked the one skill they've always wanted - that is, sucking up, accepting that there's preferential treatment (playing favorites), etc. [I can't get started about all this!! - it will just piss me off!].
Anyway, I don't know of any women do does not think she has a big butt. I have a big FLAT butt! :p AS for the boobs, I wouldn't mind losing a cup size or two myself. I don't know what's all this fuss about having big ones anyway!! Women who don't have them, want them; women who have them, don't want them!! :bouncing: I would assume boobs do get bigger if you gain weight. Have you read about Charli weight loss with the Fat Flush Plan?
Wow, a dairy! Guess all of us come from so many different backgrounds and live so differently but here we are talking to each other!! Isn't the internet amazing? Can you imagine how women dealt with their symptoms in the past? They didn't even talk about it! Most of my (bad) symptoms are gone now. I am hoping they took a hike for good!!
Have terrific day!

The levis w/ a little lycra are great. You can usually get a size or 2 smaller since they have so much give AND they'll still fit if you lose weight! The also just look and feel like regular levis (and fade the same). I got a black pair of 550's on-line last year; so I'm sure they have the regulars too.

Hi ILove. Bet they still don't stretch as much as my faithful sloppy fat girl sweatpants. lol. Haven't tried any of those because I haven't seen any yet. Will have to make the trip to the city to locate them, I'm sure.
Morning, Molly. I too worked in the corporate world for 22 years for the same company. Fed my calves before and after work and did relief milking on weekends. Was a challenge to say the least. But I certainly understand what you mean about the corporate bullcrap. I never was any good at sucking up either. Worked for an oil/gas company, in the office for the first 12 years and then I moved to a field position. Loved working outside and got some good promotions the last 5 years I was there. Was in line to be pipeline superintendent right before we decided to relocate. Got to work with my share of bu**hole engineers as well. Some of them were ok folks and then you had the ones with the I'm-better-than-God egos. My company ended up merging with another about a year after I left and I'd probably been transferred anyway so I guess everything works out for the best. My brothers and I are 5th generation cow folks. Oldest bro is in Alaska and has an organic goat dairy.
Love meeting people on line and sharing lives with them. Get to meet such nice people this way. Still email with my old boss and some of my ex coworkers on a regular basis. My 70 yo mom has even learned to email. Believe me, there's not many here in Podunk USA that are as much fun as those I've met online.
All of you ladies have a great weekend. Let's all pray for fewer hot flashes, more weight loss, and peace in our homes as well as the world. cg

Hi Cowgal,
I worked for the same corporation for 26 years! I didn't always work with engineers throughout my career there. Engineers aren't as bad as some of the "others." The engineers I currently work with tend to just procrastinate and are not too organized, but they think the world of me so they are nice to me.
In a large corporation, there are always jerks! There are lots who are plain lazy, never take responsibility when there's a mistake, great at pointing fingers at someone else. There are alot of snobs too--think they are better than you but yet they don't know anything about you. I can't stand the liars! Still have some built-in anger w/some people there. Feel sorry for some of the remaining poor souls there - little do they realize that there's a life out there! I left b/c I went through a harassment and discrimination lawsuit against them later. It was hell but it was the best thing that happened b/c I would've probably still be there now!
Why did you work for a corporation if you have the cow business? It seems like an hard lot of work. I agree that you can meet a lot of nice people online.
Have a good day,
Molly

Hi again cowgal. I don't know if I'm allowed to say that Penney's has them online. They're the 550 levi stretch. Have a good weekend; I'm so glad it's FRIDAY!
