HOw do you know if you have oral herpes...what are some of the signs and symptoms? Is there such thing as having oral herpes and only getting them on the inside of your mouth and never getting them on your lips? I have some little itty bitty pimple like things in my mouth and they last only for 1 0r 2 days and go away. What do you think it is? Also, If you have never had an outbreak for six months (which in my case means that I have only had one outbreak and that was the one that i had when i first contracted it?) Do you think that I can have unprotected sex and not contract the other person...what are the chances that I would transmit it from me to him? Thanks so much Barbie

There is a lot of confusion about differentiating normal mouth bumps (and I have no idea what the clinical name is for them, but they aren't associated with any pain), canker sores and cold sores (both of which cause considerable pain). From what I have read, canker sores are usually just one sore, with an angry red border and white interior. Cold sores can be one or more than one and are clustered bumps that look like blisters and when they break open, the red is in the middle. Another difference is that canker sores are more lilely to be on the interior and cold sores appear mainly on the exterior (lips and corner of mouth).
I typed in "canker sore cold sore" into google to get this info.
