Hi, newbie here. I've had herpes for almost 10 years. When I was on supression therapy, it worked great. But when I'm not on it, I get monthly obs. And since I was pregnant & now nursing, I'm not on any meds. So, I'm going to really try the diet & some of the other supplements I've learned about here!

But for the diet, how serious are you guys about it? Do you just avoid the main ones (chocolate, nuts, caffeine)? Or do you avoid oatmeal, brown rice, whole wheat as well? Those are things that I regularly eat because they're healthy - for most people!! If you do avoid those things, do you basically avoid all carbs or do you just go ahead & eat the white refined rice & bread?

Also, is decaf tea or coffee ok? Carob instead of chocolate?

Thanks for the help! Hopefully I can controll this naturally!

Hi, this is the web page that I go to so that I can check on my food intake in managing my herpes. It gives a chart that shows how people with viral diseases can benefit from a diet high in lysine and low in arginine. Click on the link and you'll see what I mean. It's a really good resource. Just be sure to stay away from alcohol, nuts, and caffeine. (believe me, it's hard to do that. lol.)
