Recently, I started having itching and burning in my vaginal area. there was also this cottage cheese like stuff down there. I assumed it was a yeast infection, because I am on antibiotics and i know they can cause yeast infections. Well, I went to the store and got Monistat 1 day treatment. Its been 3 days now and the itching and the cheesy stuff are still there, but the burning is gone...is this not a yeast infection if the meds didnt work? did i do it wrong? should i do the treatment again? any advice would be helpful..ive never had a yeast infection before so I dont really know what the symptoms and stuff are..thanks, andrea

Go see your doctor(PCM) and make sure it is a yeast infection...it is always best to get checked instead of trying to treat it yourself. This way you can get proper treatment even if it is a yeast infection.

Sounds like a yeast infection to me, but you should be checked by your doctor just to be safe ;) I get them from antibiodics too. One time I talked to my doctor about it and she said they like women to use the 3 day instead of the 1 day because it usually takes at least that long to go away. If that does not work they will give you a pill that clears it up really fast. She said some yeast infections are stubborn and you need the pill instead of the creams. I have treated mine before with the one day meds and it did not work in that amount of time, more like 2-3 days. It could be a bacterial infection though so you should see your doctor. Hope this helps! :bouncing:

Sounds like a yeast infection. The 3 or 7 day treatments are the best. And eating yogurt helps too. But as someone else said, it's best to go and get it looked at by a doctor. If it's a yeast infection they can give you stuff for it, and if it's not, they can give you the proper treatment.

I used to take antibiotics for months at a time for my face. Well I had a problem with getting yeast infections. I tried the 1-day treatment and it never worked for me. The only thing that worked was the 7-day treatment. The last time I had a yeast infection the 7-day treatment did not work for me even. I got the difulcan pill from the doctor and it cleared it up.

I found that the one day treatments did not work right away either, but it did work, meanwhile, you could always use the tried and true yogurt trick, it is very soothing while you wait - remember though, plain, unsweetend with acidophilus ! It can take 4-5 days to really feel better as your body still has to heal the damage

I'm sorry to butt into the thread so rudely and go off topic at the same time. But I am wondering something...if you want to buy an over-the-counter treatment for a yeast infection, do you need to present ID (i.e. driver's license, birth certificate, etc.)?

There is no age requirement for buying that. You do not need to show id of any kind.
