Hi. I am an avid road cyclist and do a lot of cycling in the summer here and put on a few thousand miles. I also do some weight lifting and walking. Nothing too strenuous there but I am pretty faithful. I am also a 31 year old female. I would love to add some muscle definition to my body but I just can't seem to do it. I have gluten sensitivity and so have to be careful of what foods I am eating but I just can't pack the muscle on. Any advice???

Thanks!

Most bicyslists I know have pretty lean bodies that are built for endurance. They are also hard gainers.

If you want to build some muscle, you would have to lift heavy, compound exercises and eat more protein. IMO, it will be harder to gain muscle since you are biking a few thousand miles in the summer. That's a lot of cardio activity to be trying to add some muscle. Ideally, the time to add muscle would be in your off season since you are not on the bike.

Yes I am pretty lean but I guess I am looking more for definition. I have been cycling for five years now and just can't seem to get the definition I want. Any way I can make my muscles look more defiant??? That is what I really crave and guess should of said that in the first place!!!

If you want more definition, you have twi choices, build the muscle or drop the fat. It sounds like you are getting plenty of cardio, which is why I suggested weight training.

Sidenote: I personally like when women have some muscle on them. I'm not talking about female powerlifters or bodybuilders, but It thinks its definitely cool when women have some muscle on them. I think most women are afraid to lift heavy fearing they will turn into a shemale, when in fact its a lot harder for women to gain the mass that men can gain.

Well I have to say that I definitely don't have much fat on me at all. I am pretty solid just not a lot of definition that I would like. I've always loved muscle on a woman also but just the definition type which is why I would love to achieve that. I will try with more heavy weights and see if I can get any results. Thanks!
