I don't mean to scare you, but I have read some pretty bad stuff from a lady who feels he totally mangled her face. I hope this helps.

Thank you, Jeanne. I would rather be scared away before the fact than after. I think even one bad report about any doctor is enough reason to look elsewhere. There are plenty of good ones out there. Why go to one if there is even a hint of doubt. People don't say bad things about doctors without good reason.

I appreciate your warning. I've been looking around different boards and this is the 3rd one where something bad was said about Dr. Eppley. Another woman had a bad experience with breast implants with him.

I just saw pictures of this woman.. My God.. what a disaster!!! He pulled her neck down instead of up! She has x-rays of the insides of her throat while she is pulling up on the neck where he pulled it down. There were all sorts of medical reports with doctors names and hospital where tests were done. This is the scariest thing I ever saw.

I know - there are so many horror stories! And I think he was board certified, too! I guess there are no guarantees with this stuff. I sort of got the impression that they never should have reoperated on her while her nose job was still healing. Did you actually consult with him?

No, I didn't consult with him and I'm glad I didn't! If you do a Gooogle search on him, lots of things turn up. all these posts from boards. Her story is realy complicated. I guess Dr. Eppley did her revision surgery and that is what really disabled her physically.

You are right about the rhinoplasty. She had a facelift at one of those clinics in Boston where they have the profs. oversee the operation but the resident does the surgery. Her facelift (the original one) looked great, but they did a rhinoplasty on her only 2 months after the facelift and it ruined her whole face. It seems strange that any doctor would do another operation so soon after a facelift. I never heard of that. My friend had her nose done and she had serious swelling in the upper face. I can;t believe the same clinic would allow her to have a nose job so soon. It made her whole face sag, so I guess that's why she wanted the revision.

But what Eppley did to her! How did he DO THAT? Did you see the picture of her mouth? It hurts me just to look at it.

Yes, I feel for her. At least she is getting the word out on him. It has to have had an effect on his practice. I can't imagine anyone who reads this stuff ever going to him for anything. Have you had anything done yet, or are you still at the investigative phase?

Jeanne, I'm still investigating.. but I have been doing that for YEARS! The longer I wait, the more scared I get! It just seems like you never know what can happen. I've read horror stories about some of the really big name surgeons, too. BTW, when I e-mailed the woman who Eppley messed up, she said the residents who did her first operations in that clinic did a good job! She said the operations themselves were very good. It was doing them too close together without giving the facelift a chance to heal first that was the problem. She said both of the residents had more skill than Dr. Eppley and that they never would have done what he did.

She blamed the Harvard Profs who supervised the residents and OK'd the nose job so soon after the facelift. They should have known better, but I guess they are only interested in getting as many operations as they can under their belts while they are working in the clinic. I guess they need so many of each procedure to get board certified, so they try to get as many done as they can while they are residents.

Have you had anything done yet? I haven't looked up your posts, so I don't know

In 2002, I had a breastlift (no implants) and upper and lower eyelifts with a premier NYC cosmetic surgeon. I was totally comfortable with him, but I certainly paid top dollar. No regrets here, though - excellent work.

I look about 10 years younger. I have no plans to do anything else except keep up with my botox treatments (every 6 months or so). I still check out all the boards because I am curious and interested in what everyone else's experiences are. And also because it was through my internet research that I learned that I didn't necessarily have to go with implants. That saved me money as well as additional "maintenance" surgeries.

I have wondered from time to time if I would ever get a facelift. If I can get away with it, I would rather not. I am nervous about the hair loss thing. I have fine hair and don't need to lose any! If I ever did, I would go with an endoscopic technique. It would take me years to research doctors for that. Ah, the heck with it. I'm just going to enjoy the present. They always say, if you can look in the mirror and basically like what you see, then you shouldn't do anything. I'm far from perfect, but I'm OK with me.

Best,
Jeanne

Jeanne,

It sounds like you made good choices and are enjoying the benefits. As far as the facelift thing goes.. I am learning more and more about just how "chancy" that can be. You sound like a very self confident woman.. comfortable in her own body. That is better than any facelift!!

You were also smart to have a breast lift rather than implants. Sooo many bad stories there. I personally know two women who rue the day they had implants. One ended up having them removed and ended up with a serious mess that required reconstruction of one breast where they took tissue from her butocks for the reconstruction. It looks good now, but not as good as her original, untouched breasts.

I say quit while you are ahead!

Best wishes!
