The other day while I was watching the news an advertisement from a group of lawyers in the local area appeared. It was addressed to parents who believed that their child's autism was due to the mercury found in common childhood vaccines and a phone number was left. I called and I was asked various questions, no financial information, etc. just address, phone, the child's name and age. It appears that they were collecting data for a possible future nationwide lawsuit. I was wondering if anyone else saw a similar ad and if so do you believe that this is legitimate.

I'd belive it. I'm currently in a lawsuit in california. I've been hearing about alot of other lawsuits popping up around the states in the last couple months. My son was tested for mercury a few months ago and tested high. He was normal untill he was 18 months....the same month he recieved a dpt, hib, and polio vaccine....he was never the same since. The center for disease controll admits on some documents found that the thirmosol found in vaccines can cause autistic behaviors, but yet they never recalled the vaccines. And the sad thing is that a lot of doctors wont test kids for mercury poisioning....They just tell you its autism and theres nothing you can do.

We just recently hired a lawyer for the same reason. The law firm is out of Texas, and we live in Michigan. It is a very touchy subject with alot of people, yet if proven we can make some sence of all of this! It is a class action law suit and we are just beginning with all the paperwork. Nicksmom is right, most docs wont test for it. I am having trouble now trying to find someone to test our son! Hang in there :) Best of luck to you and your family

I,too have contacted a lawyer regarding this issue. We sent off hair samples to the Great Plains lab last week, but have not gotten the results yet. However, I've heard that a hair sample may not give an accurate result since my daughter is now 3 years old. We are starting with the hair test and if it is negative, I've heard there are other ways of testing for mercury. Has anyone had any luck with the hair test? and if not,what test did you do to detect the mercury? Since we are paying for all of this out of our own pockets, I want to make sure we are on the right track and are getting the correct testing done. Any advice would be great. after a while the mercury binds itself tightly so alot of test will come back negative unless you give a chelation treatment before getting a sample. This will alow some of the mercury to come out of hiding sort of speak. Once you find out your child has mercury, you might want to look into chelation

Yes my son, Matthew, has had a hair sample tested and while the mercury amounts were not very elevated his overall profile of heavy metals was in the 95th percentile (5% of the population has his overall levels). He had 7 different abnormal heavy metal levels and supposedly, the cumulation of several heavy metals can lead to detrimental effects. Because of his results, he began chelation with DMSA. Matthew has gone through two rounds of the chelation with DMSA so far and I just got back the results of his urine testing. His highest levels involved lead, nickel, and mercury, however, these levels were still in the normal range but close to being elevated. I know these levels must be higher because Matthew sneaked into the bathroom on purpose twice during the collection process so I missed those. Even those it was frustrating, he was just so cute and funny about it because he knows he is suppose to go in the "cup" for the doctor. Anyways, because of my son's age (he just turned 8), I am afraid that a lot of the metal in his body is probably locked in his cells so we will most likely have to use lipoic acid to try to chelate these strongly bounded metals from his cells. Please if you are considering chelation get it started as soon as possible because the possibility of a more complete recovery is dependent on age(toddlers have a better success than older children). I am encouraged also because his levels of mercury that were chelated out were higher than what was presented in the hair sample. As was written previously, the hair sample is not as accurate but I think it can help decided whether or not chelation is the route that should be tried. After his sixth round of chelation, Matthew will have his blood levels tested so I hope for the best. As for the pending case, I too have requested for the information packet concerning the class action suit out of Texas. I haven't decided what I will do. It will depend on the information presented in the packet. If a fee is involved, I will think twice about it because 1)I cannot affort it since I am a single mom and 2) I thought class action suits should not have a fee since it is included in the settlement. Please let me know if that is not the case. Anyways, I will let you know what I find out about it. I was wondering to anyone out there whose child has tried the chelation process if any side affects were experienced. Matthew was a little grumpy (understandably so) and his urine was an interesting shade of yellow. I don't think that his behavior regressed during or after and he was more talkative after the process. His sentences were more complete and clearer. Oh I was wondering if anyone has tried the sulfation angle (there appears to be a problem processing phenol in the body of some autistic patients). I had read about it in the Kirkman lab Autism brochure. That book is very informative and I would recommend everyone read it. Back to the phenol, it calls for the elimination of foods that are high in phenol (apples, citrus fruits, chocolate, etc.) for a period of time. Meantime, the level of sulfur in the body needs to be replenished to help the liver to detoxify the phenol from the body. Once these are in place, these foods can be reintroduced. Of course before any treatment is tried the proper tests should be adminstered. That is the other great thing about the Kirkman book it includes the various tests that can be done and the labs that will perform them. The key is finding a doctor who is understanding and who listens. I am lucky in that I have a very good doctor. Lastly, if you haven't yet, check out the autism research institute website (http://www.autism.com/ari/). They have posted the powerpoint slide presentation of the last DAN conference and it is very informative. There is one on mercury poisoning and autism, as well as other topics. Is the class action law suit Waters & Krause? If it is there is no fee unless you are awarded money. As far as the other law suites out there, I have no Idea, it's up to the lawyers. My son is going through chelation too, however I'm seeing a homopathic so we are doing it the natural way. You are so lucky your son isn't going berserk on you. Every once in a while he gets rashes on his body and he's extremely hyper and loud! and then he passes some mercury/ and other toxins and he's fine....but its a long day when he's detoxing.

I am not sure yet who the lawyer is but I should be receiving the packet next week. I am really glad that he did not flip out. Just like his other treatments, he has tolerated it well. I am just so proud of him. Even with all of the things he has been through, he is almost always in a great mood. He loves to make people laugh and he loves to tease his older sister. The poor thing had his first test when he was a few months old (Upper GI for his reflux problem and placed on medication (Zantac) for a month or two), then after a year old (right after the MMR vaccine) he went from a relatively normal diet (chicken, mashed potatoes, etc.) to just chicken fingers, pizza and PBJ. Anyways, after a year of seeing a specialist he has made leaps and bounds. I am glad that the chelation is working for your son too. I know what you mean about being loud. My son loves to talk 3 levels above normal talking levels. Finally, he has learned about soft and loud and he will joke about his volume being loud (He will say " I want volume on loud." (like on a computer)) Oh, I was wondering what chelation agents your son was using (garlic?). I read a little about the natural ways of chelation but I opted for DMSA mainly due to my son's age (just turned 8). I wish he could have but time is not on his side. Sometimes I get very sad because he did not have access to this treatment when he was three and I feel like his success may not be as complete due to this. No, my son isn't on garlic, he's taking something called Hepol. I never heard of it befor my son started taking it but after I got it and read up on it, it's supossed to be good for all kinds of stuff....it detoxes many things from the body, including heavy metals....so we will see. So you started having problems with your son at a young age. Did you notice any autism signs at birth too or just untill after you vaccinated? My son was normal untill he was a year and a half. He had the dpt, hib, and polio the same day and cried alot and slowly regressed over a month. He's now 5 and he's starting to progress alot...he just started talking in complete sentences so I'm excited however I still cant get him potty trained....hopefully this will be the year. Have you had your sons thyroid tested? The reason I'm asking is because I just took my son to the doctor and she asked me if I noticed if his temperature is lower than average and I didn't know so now I have to take his temp for 4 days in a row in the morning and afternoon to chart it if its low...thats an indication of thyroid problems. THe doctor told me its common for autistic kids to have a thyroid problem but I never heard of this so I will see.

It is very interesting that this issue has been brought to light. My son was developing normally until he had is 1 year vaccinations. From the few words that he was speaking to nothing, he begun to stare into space and would become aggressive with the other family members. < He was walking already> . By the time he was 2 and many trips to the pediatrician all I heard was that he is going through the terrible 2’s and he will get through it. Guess what? It only got worse. Still to this day < my son is now 14 > His diagnosis is provisional autism. I honestly believe that is was the vaccine and inquired about it 13 years ago and was told NO!!. If someone could give me more insight I would greatly appreciate it.

Most doctors will tell you that its not the vaccines and it still hasn't been proven. But if you talk to other parents most of them will tell you there children where normal untill after there first birthday and then they regressed. The only thing we all have in common is that we vaccinate our kids. If you read the ingrediants on the vaccines you will notice it has thirmosol (mercury), formaldehyde, aluminum, and many other discusting things in it. Each one of those perservitives can cause damage to the nervous system, brain damage, seisures, and even death. My son recieved the dpt, hib, and polio the same day at 18 months old and was never the same since. In some kids, they have a weak or damage protein in there body that is responsible for getting rid of toxins. So the more you vaccinate the more toxins build up. Plus in todays world our kids get alot of foods with perservitives and our enviroment is not clean (at least in southern ca.). These are things that I've read on researchers web pages and I really believe it. Autism was very rare at one time and in the last 20 years it has gradually grown and in recent years it is now out of controll.

Kimberly, does you son live at home with you? If you believe he was damaged by the vacinine then there is a really good chance he would respond well the the glueten free caisin free diet scince the mercury in the vacine damages the digestive track! We were told that we would have to instituionalize my son and were waiting for placement when he was eight, I read about the diet in Parents Mag March 2000? or 2001 I think 2000, I had nothing to loose and everything to gain and tried it, most people who did not know him before the diet simply can not believe that he is autistic now. That really ticks me off that the CDC knows but yet they dont recall all vaccines off the selves that contain mercury. I took excellent care of myself before and during my pregnancy to make sure my baby was healthy and he was...he was perfect. He never got sick and was very smart untill a year and a half later and the government took that away from me. They will pay!!!

CD, your post was very interesting! That kind of confirms my feelings all along. I believe that MANY government agencies have and do know about the possible affects of Toxins in the vaccines, but they keep the info to themselves until it can be further proven.. How many children/families need to suffer before they prove their point?? I am gettting so disgusted with our government that I have got a list of EVERY government figure in PA and am writing 1 letter and mailing it to all with my concerns.. With "big" elections going on in our state this year I hope to get some good responses about what they plan to do to help families like us. I think that agencies like the CDC are now backed against the wall because families like all of us aren't going to just sit here and let them do this to children anymore! I also think that everything is so secretive right now too because they are unsure on how to resolve such a big problem.. Maybe they are worried about the backlash they will get from families of "Autistic" children. (Which they so well deserve!) Probably, the most sad thing that comes to mind is that I think the agencies are going to look into this further only because of the rate of Children on SSI because of this disability. When they start looking at the Autism rate increase they don't feel that is a big concern, but when you start talking "money" then they say "look at how many children are on SSI with a disability that could have been caused by the vaccines we mandated.." That will have them check into it more because we all know that the government agencies are always looking for a way to cut spending.. So, maybe they will come forward openly about all of the information they have been gathering and let us all in on their little secrets.

Hi, I've been reading these posts about mercury in vaccines and as I'd never heard of this before, I have a question. It's been a well-known fact for years that mercury is poisonous to the human body, so why in the world is there mercury in vaccinations given to children? My doctor has been pestering me to get my kids (8-12) the new chicken pox shots and I just keep putting her off just because I feel all the facts aren't in. This news about mercury certainly puts me off completely. I also have the old silver-colored fillings myself and wonder if they're mercury?

Mercury is the same as thimerosal. They have been using thirmerosal for many many years. The reason you never saw autism, adhd, and other problems in children 30 years ago was because you only had to have a few vaccinations. Now our kids get alot starting on the day they are born. You'll also see that they use formaldehyde (embalming fluid), alluminum, and other dangerous stuff as perservitives. The chicken pox vaccine does not contain mercury but I refused it for my son. My son is allergic to succrose and that is in the vaccine and plus I heard its only 70% affective and you have to repeat it every 10 years. I can't imagine a grown man making an appointment to get the chicken pox vaccine and if you get it as an adult it is supposed to be bad. So in the mean time I'm hoping my son will get it the natural way. As for your silver fillings, yes, those definantly have mercury in them. You can have them removed and replace with white fillings made out of reison (can't spell??), my mom just had her's replaced after we learned that. I met a lady last year at a behavior therapy clinic who had a son that needed alot of fillings at the age of 3. He had autistic like behaviors within a couple weeks of getting the fillings and he was tested high for mercury and so they had to remove all the silver from his mouth...so that stuff can be very dangerous to some people.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, someone help me! My son is 10 months old and will be due for his first MMR soon. I DO NOT want him to have the MMR considering all the controversy surrounding it. I was going to have him have the single vaccines, 1st one being for measles, and so on. Now I'm scared to even do that after reading about mercury poisoning. My son is bright, happy, gorgeous, and healthy. I don't want him to be any different because of a jab! Do any of you know...is there mercury in the single shots, and if so, is it enough to poison my son? I don't want him to potentially get anything, and I certainly don't want him getting measles, mumps, or rubella, but I don't want to risk him becoming autistic or poisoned either! I live in the UK and it is extremely hard to find Dr's that will give a single shot, but I will pay to have them done privately if necessary...but only if they're safe.
Thank you. I know I'm a paranoid first time mom, but I'd rather be paranoid and have my child safe and healthy than not and have him seriously mentally "challenged" later when he was fine to begin with. :)

Amy, You are 100% correct to question anything that involves your child. I have learned through these boards that someone mentioned that they requested "Mercury Free" vaccines. Sorry, I forget who it was, but maybe if they read this they can give you more info on it. I have a older son who I didn't really question anything about his vaccines (Because I thought they were 100% safe or why else would they give them to our children) So, then having the 2nd child of course I went the same route and had all of the required vaccinations too. However, things didn't turn out as well for my 2nd son. He "developed" Autism at around 18 months old. Personally if I were to have another child now I would really check into mercury free vaccines and go where ever I could get them. A friend of mine took her children to the same Dr. we had and she requested that the MMR vaccine be split up into 3 separate shots for her 1st born explaining that she was friends of ours and knows personally what we have went through and are still going through.. Well the Dr. REFUSED to give her the shots separate and called her an UNFIT MOTHER!!! :mad:
I was so mad when she told me that! The Dr. said she was being OVER PROTECTIVE and CRUEL to give her child 3 shots rather that 1 and get it over with! Next Dr. Visit I told the Dr. that she is being unfair, by not giving my friend the option of the 3 vaccines. This particular Dr. is convinced that "Nothing has been proven yet". (I HATE those words!) Well I told her off in her office and said I think more Physcians should be OVERPROTECTIVE and what is CRUEL is that out children are being poisioned by People that take the oath to help and save lives, not to destroy them! So Amy, we have been told that our sons poisioning probably started at birth with the first HIB vaccine and just became worse with each vaccine and finally his body became overwhelmed with all of the "junk" at his last set of shots at around 15-17 months and the next month all %$@# broke loose and he "developed" Autism. I give you so much credit for questioning vaccines, but the choice is up to you and you will probably have to do some research and talk to your Doctor about it. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully you doctor is more understanding that ours has been.. But, if you truly believe in having the shots separated or can find the Mercury Free vaccines and you doctor won't do it for you, then you need to find one that will.. These are our kids and we are the ones that have to raise them the rest of our lives, not the doctors! I would love to send my Autistic son to his doctors house for 1 weekend I think she would better see what we go through than to visit him for 5 minutes in her office! LOL BTW: His Doctor doesn't have ANY kids, so she really has no clue! LOL

Wow! I read through the posts and had never seen the ingredients for these vaccines! I am a firm believer that the vaccines caused my son's autism or atleast had a trigger ingredient to cause autism. My son was reaching all of his milestones early. He said his first word at 6 months, walked at 8 months. He never crawled, just slithered like a snake and one day got up and walked. He was speaking in sentences and riding his tricycle. When he got four vaccines in one day, he started screaming like he was in pain and would not sleep.

It is really disturbing to find what some of the ingredients are that they are injecting into our kids! What really disturbs me is this question that is going through my mind. Our parents made sure were probably all vaccinated, right? What if an ingredient in the vaccines we received caused a change in our genetic makeup to help contribute to their autism? I mean, do we actually know what were in the vaccines 20 years ago? If our government would use agents such as Agent Orange against the troops in the war, would they also experiment with children? They gave black men syphlis (sp?)in the 50's in Lousiana. This is really scary if you think about it! My mind is just reeling right now!
