Can anyone help me, I hope you don't think I am a hypocondriac

Yesterday morning I was setting off to work, when the inside of my wrist (where you feel your pulse) on my right arm was really hurting. I looked at it and there was a swelling of about 2 inches, which was dark blue in colour. It was narrow and looked like it was a long narrow lump under my skin... it really hurt, both from the inside and to touch. Then I notice my veins were slightly swollen leading from it.

A colleague was picking me up for work, and i showed to him. He hadn't a clue either and suggested I moved my wrist backwards and forwards to release it, as the swelling was getting worse.

I work at a health centre (in a non clinical role), so I thought I would ask a nurse as soon as I got to work. It is only a 15 minute journey and by the time we had arrived the swelling had all but gone and the pain was subsiding rapidly. The nurse looked at it and said, 'you can't have a blood clot in your wrist, so don't worry, are you feeling ok'. I was feeling ok, so just got on with my work.

I now have a deep bruise where the swelling was and decided to just check out on the web. Apparently you can have a blood clot anywhere. I am now worried... wondering all sorts... have I made it worse, has it moved somewhere else.. It is a day and half since it happened.

Will anyone reassure me please, does anyone have a clue what it was???

Thanks so much. :

as you are feeling fine now, you probably just bumped it and bruised it. if it were something else youd still be having problems, or would be in the er by now.
