View Full Version : skipped beats and odd pains

I have had skipped beats for a while now, but I noticed today that I am having several more then usal... like 3 or 4 every 5 minutes or less. Usally I only have a few a day.

My doctor just said that they won't happen as much if I am "active"... well I seem to get them MORE and alot "worse" or "intense" when I am playing sports or something. Sometimes I feel an odd feeling in my neck before I get them. They can make me feel really bad... and today I was finishing a sport I was playing and they kept coming. I was having them left and right, they were hitting "hard" so to speak. I also seem to get out of breath alot quicker then before... I will be talking to someone and then I need to take a quick gasp of air. The other thing are these strange pains I have under both my arms... they are dull and always there. I also have pains in both my shoulder blades and in between my back. I am worried that they may be heart related but am not sure. I have had some odd episodes where I will have a place in my back hurt really bad(it almost feels like it is in the middle of my body) and it goes to my chest and then my neck. It is like a sharp pain and can last for several minutes. It does go away and I have only had it 4 or so times.

I just don't get why I am having all these problems... I sometimes think I will have to just quit playing sports because my heart beats out of control when I am just starting to play. It's all really frusterating. Does this sound strange to anyone?

Thanks.

(By the way - at night I have trouble sleeping because I am very aware of my heartbeat and it speeds up/slows up and skips all the time. What can I do about that?)

Hello Rocky,
Many have posted on this forum about Magnesium supplementation, and it works. But I want to also add to that and say that it is absolutely CRITICAL that you ensure your electrolytes are balanced properly. There are certains minerals that our bodies must have to function properly. Electrolytes are very important, especially for sports active people - hence the reason someone created Gatorade. Magnesium and potassium in particular are the 2 important ones for proper heart function. The majority of people don't eat whole foods. We eat mostly processed foods and the nutrients have been stripped away. That's how we become deficient. Start supplementing with a good liquid vit/mineral supplement. I say liquid because it absorbs faster. And if you want very QUICK relief, go to a health food store and get the homeopathic magnesium pellets and put 3 or 4 under your tongue. You will notice the PVCs will become weaker and weaker. Your body is probably very deficient if you notice an immediate response.

TRUST ME - it works!!

Good luck

Greetings.
Sorry to hear about your heart skipping beats.
For years I suffered with this too. Doctors told me it wasn't worth worrying about. Some would take an EKG with me laying down, which never showed the missing beats.
Anyway, I started supplementing with the amino acid L Taurine, and the missing beats started becoming fewer and fewer and eventually I stopped noticing them altogether.

This can be a symptom of stress/anxiety, many on that board have similar symptoms.
