Ok, I just went to the store and bought two 15 oz protien drinks. Each containing 18g of Protein. My question is, when do I drink these? Currently, I am going to school from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm. Then I go to work from 3:00pm to 6:00pm every Wed. and Fri. Then I go run my daily 3 mile run at the local wetlands. Then I go home and eat dinner. (it usually takes me about 25 to 30 min. to do the run) After that, homework, then bed. I am currently trying to dedicate some time to lifting weights. I hear you should do it about 3 to 4 times a week. Also, my diet is starting to drastically change, because of the starting of lifting weights, and open gym for basketball is starting.

My goals are as follows:

I am male weighing in at 170 lbs and am 6 feet tall.
I am pretty skinny most of the fat is in my belly and I have a smidget of Man Boobitest.

Next, I want to turn all of that last remaing fat into muscle. I will do this by weights and to keep on running.

I would like to possibly stay the same weight, or maybe gain about 5 pounds, but I dont want it to be fat, muscle, and since muscle weighs more than fat, I am sure this can be accomplished.

Now, back to the main reason for the post. When and how many protein drinks should I drink a day. Also, are there any other nutrients to focus on. I know i will want to consume lots of cabs because i will be needing them in my excersises. I will probably want to stay low on the fat because that is waht i am trying to lose, right? Also, last thing, are nuts a good snack?

Thank you, I know its long, but i have saved these questions for one post, thanks in advance..

Protein can and should be taken right after lifting weights. Within an hour of finishing and best if taken with some complex carbs as that helps get the protein where it needs to get. Beyond that if you subscribe to the 6 meals a day program then use the protein drinks as one of those meals especially if you are running way short of time.

Nuts are good snacks although many are high in fat but also high in protein.
