I have been having problems with getting skipped beats or thumps when bending over(not every time) for about 2 years..there is no pain but sometimes I feel like I have to cough when this happens. Also if I happen to take a deep breath, my heart might skip as well. Anyway nothing of course shows up when tested either in the doctor's office or the holter monitors. Recently I had a kidney stone attack and at the e.r. they did a catscan to see about that and then told me I had a hiatal hernia. I never knew that before.
Could this be causing the heart symptoms I have been experiencing? I don't have any chest pain or shortness of breath but I do get a full feeling, above my waist, if I eat more then a moderate amount of food. It feels like there isn't much space in that area.
Any information would be very appreciated....

Well I have all those same symptoms that you describe SO WELL !!! I dont know if it's related to the hiatal hernia or not. I was told I had one too. I did the upper GI test about 4 years ago and they told me I had a small one. I just recently started having those PVCs, so I didn't know there was a chance they could be related. That's interesting.
If anyone knows anymore about it, please share. Otherwise, i'll look more into it and then post back later.

Since posting my message, I have been doing some online 'homework' and it does seem that having a hiatal hernia can make for irregular, skipped beats. Something to do with the vagus nerve reaction which I have to do more research on. With the bulge in our diaphragm from the hernia, it can come into contact with out heart and cause the skipped beats and often pain. It's scary really and yet I would rather know for sure then to be wondering.
Will do some more work on this and post what I find that might be of interest here....

Yeap. You may think its a skip beat but it actually could be just a muscle seizure in your chest or stomach. I notice this when I work out doing weight lifting and when the muscles tighten up I get them. So I put 2 and 2 together.
You will notice that you get no other symptoms. You don't get blurred vision or dizziness. If you do its likely because of a sudden anxiety attack because you panic.
Ever since high school, my chest and abdominal has always been subject to hernias. When the muscle seizure comes, I describe it as a short shock of electricity in my chest. Sometimes I feel tightness in my chest and the muscles would be so sore I couldn't expand my chest. So I worried.
I went to the doctors just in case. Blood work, urine, EKG, chest x ray, the whole 9 yards. Everything came out negative. They didn't even recommend a stress test. They said it was just a hernia.
If I can exercise for hours and not feel faint, then I pretty much know it isn't anything to be of major concern anyway.
