View Full Version : Blood on toilet paper

On Saturday, I ate some extremely spicy Korean food. It was probably the hottest food I have eaten in a long time. Tuesday, I had a bowel movement. The actual stool didn't look bloody and there was no blood in the toilet, however there was a moderate amount of blood on the toilet paper. On my bm on Wednesday, there was some blood, but not nearly as much as the day before on the toilet paper. Today, which is Thursday, there was a small amount as well. Would this have anything to do with the Korean food I ate this past weekend. Also, my doctor has me taking flexeril for some muscle probelms, however I have only taken one pill this week. I have heard that flexeril causes some constipation. During the past, there have been time when there have been small amount of blood on the toilet paper from big stools, but they haven't been that big this week. Ever since Tuesday, I've been worried. Although the amount of blood has been less since that day, I'm still worried. Does anyone think there's a serious problem? Thanks.

Since there was no blood in the stool itself, i don't believe there is a problem. I too have this problem when i am constipated or have eatin a lot of spicy food. I think its just the irritation of the spicy food coming out the other end in your case. Wait for some more replys, and if you feel the need ask your dr. But i don't think its any problem at all.

Good Luck

I'd wait no longer than a week or so to see if it goes away. In the meantime make an appt. with your family doc. It doesn't sound like anything serious but blood that's either on the toilet paper alone, on your stool alone, or both that continues should be looked into a.s.a.p. Better to be safe than sorry!

Thank you both for the tip. I will keep an eye on everything for about a week. If it doesn't get better, I'll go to the doctor. I also found out yesterday that my girlfriend is having the same problem. It started the same day mine started, and she ate the same thing at the Korean restaurant that I had.

A low platelet count in the blood can also cause blood in the stool.
