Hi, I was born with mellanoma, and have had 9 surgeries since then,(im 18 currently) I was wondering if there are any people out there who also have had this problem. I dont really have a question, Im just looking for some support. THanks.

Hi Anjel
I don't have the same problem as you but just hated seeing your post with no replies :( I'm sure there must be others, but it must surely be quite rare to be born with melanoma? When I had my melanoma removed about 6 years ago, I took part in a study to try & establish whether or not melanoma might be hereditary. I'm entirely convinced that the sun isn't always the cause though.

Have your surgeries been to remove moles only, or been more extensive? I had lymph nodes removed from my armpit but they fortunately didn't turn out to be malignant. I would imagine that you might have to have all your moles examined very frequently. The dermatologist I had used to look at them with a magnifying glass & I used to dread her finding yet another one to remove (about 6 or 7 so far).

Hope you will post again & tell us more about your melanomas & I hope all is going well for you at the moment.
Best wishes.
Lidia

I have not replied, Im sorry, Ive been very busy with getting ready for my surgery. Actually my mellanoma was removed when i was 3 months old, and Ive had many surgeries to try and fix everything that got messed up. My next surgery is to lengthen my achilles tendon and a skin release along with scar tissue removal.
