Hi everyone

This is my first posting to this board.
Diabetic seven years with good control of sugars.
In hospital ten days for first and only abscess in Nov 2003.

In October I had the flu and pneumonia vaccines.
A few days later I had a cold that went to a bad chest infection.
By the first week of Nov. an abscess was forming at the top of my left leg. The first abscess that I have had.

Nov 17th I was admitted to hospital and the next day, 18th, had it drained under anaesthetic.
The 19th, I had dizzy spells and was vomiting so the nurse gave me an anti- nausea drug in my I.V.
A few hours later I was dizzy and sick again and the nurse then gave me a milder anti nausea drug in my I.V.
With in minutes my left leg and arm felt heavy and I couldn’t lift them up I went to tell the nurse and I found my speech slow and slurry .
She said it was probably a reaction to the drug.

The next day my eyes went slightly blurred and by the weekend I couldn’t see well at all. It was the both eyes and it was the central vision.
The hospital sent me to see an optomotrist who said my eyes were okay but was concerned it was my optic nerve.
He recommended I was put under the care of the neuro team, which I was. I had a cat scan which came back clear. I was in hospital for ten days.
The vision cleared after four weeks.

I’m going to summarize symptoms, since December.
Aching and stabbing pain in muscles in right leg and arm, crawly sensations in right hand and leg.
Cramping in right leg
Two dizzy spells lasting two days.
Extreme pins and needles in right hand to elbow and right foot to right knee.
Semi Numbness in three fingers on right hand and occasional numbness on face muscles, right side.
Tingling across top of head the right side and down face.
Extreme fatigue!
Buzzing sensation down my right leg and arm and above my pubic bone.
Right leg feels like a ton after walking a while.
Finding it difficult some days to remember words during conversations.

Saw Neuro privately.
No tendon reflexes, right arm reflex brisk, left arm normal.
Suggested maybe a syrinx in neck.
MRI scan March found to be clear.
Heart scan in March, found small hole in heart.Being sent for a TEE.Cardiologist mentions for the first time possible stroke in hospital!!!!

Nerve conduction study booked some months away. Neuro wouldn’t want me to waste money privately as he said it probally would come back clear.

Neuro said some symptoms point to Diabetic related mild neuropathy and some don’t.
Can’t say what is wrong other than I do have a neurology problem, and it could all go on it's on accord.
Could TIAs not show on Ct scan and MRI/MRA scans?
All the best to you all.

it is my understanding that tia's do not show up on an mri or ct scan because there is no damage done with a tia...it is a major warning, but no permenent damage therefor nothing to see on a scan.
what does show up is a stroke. sometimes it takes a few days to show up though.
