Our doctor has suggested either prozac or zyprexa for our 8 year old son with pdd-nos. Does anyone have any experience with either of these two medications that they could share with us? Our son is not on any medications currently. Thanks!!

My son was on zyprexa for almost three years. I have written about this before. Be aware that I do not know of any child on zyprexa who did not gain a tremendous amount of weight. It actually gives them an eating disorder - all they can think about is the next thing to eat. All meds have side effects, but research carefully into what those side effects are and how frequently they occur. Good luck!

We decided to try prozac (actually generic fluoxitine) and it has made a world or difference. Now the doctor wants to up the dosage so I need to do some more research and decide what to do.
