My husband would really like to have Lasik Surgery done but he heard somewhere that he wouldnt be able to because he had to have a piece of metal taken out of his eye in the past. Something about the scar tissue from this would make it impossible to do the surgery. Does anyone know if that is true?

Who told him that information? If it was an eye doctor/surgeon, then believe what they say, they ought to know seeing they specialize in the procedure. There are many unscrupulous practitioners out there that are in it for the money and will perform any procedure on anyone, so long as that person is willing to pay for it. That's why it's important to do your research, including checking out the doctors you are trusting your health to.
I did a google search for "How LASIK Works" and found several interesting and indepth articles on the procedure, including one guy that talks about his entire experience with it. After reading it, I know it's not something I'd be interested in, as I'm super squeamish when it comes to my eyes and having people slicing off layers of my cornea while I watch them coming at me with a sharp object, LOL.
Anyway, if your husband has talked to a LASIK surgeon, and was told no. Believe it. I'd be a whole lot concerned if I heard "no" from one doctor, and another one telling me "Oh heck yes. We can fix you right up today". I value my eyes and I am not about to take risks with them and entrust them to just anyone, because there is a possibility that I could end up being worse than what I am now.

No it was just a friend that told him that. He works so many hours that if it something that he cant do, I dont even want to waste his time going to an appointment.

The surgery isn't for everyone. It's expensives. Not everyone is a candidate. And there are no guarantees as with most surgical proceedures. And the long term risks have really yet to be seen.
If your husband has been wanting to look into it, then he should. He should make his mind up for himself, and not based on other people's experiences were. The only way he will know if he is a good candidate for the surgery, is to make time to go and get himself examined and have a doctor tell him he either is, or isn't a candidate.

If your husband has ever had an injury to the cornea I would not think that he would be a candidate for the surgery. But if he really wants to be sure he should talk to a LASIK surgeon. There are also other kinds of refractive surgeries besides LASIK, such as PRK and maybe a few others. He might want to look into that as well.

I had a piece of metal removed from my eye when I was in middle school. I had LASIK done about 3 weeks ago and everything is perfect! The doctor will look and see the extent of the damage and see if LASIK is OK to do. Good luck!
