When i was about 13 years old...i had a round patch of dry skin on my toe and when i picked at the dry skin there was just on hole in my toe and i didn't know what it was....well somehow my sister got it cuz she had a couple of holes that developed on her toes but there was no dry skin over it just a hole. I developed some other holes too on the same toe....I know this all sounds wield but we never went to the doctor and it just seemed to disappear after a month...but i always wanted to know what is was and why these holes just seemed to appear on our toes. :)

It might have been a corn. Corns are often found in areas where there is constant pressure from foot wear. I get one on my 4th toe, in between the baby one.

Or it might have been a callous. A callous is a thickened area of dry skin. There is soft skin below it. If you dig out the callous (which you shouldn't do), you will be left with a pit-like crater where the callous was. The best way to get rid of callous tissue is to soften the skin by soaking it and then gently exfoliating it off with a loofah or callous remover tool. A few times doing that and the old dead skin is removed, and the new softer skin gets to the top.

You desscribed a Planters Wort perfectly. They often go away on their own as yours did. On occasion they need to be removed by a Dr. The reason that your sister got them too is because Planters Worts are viral and there for contaigous.
