I'm a 21 year old female, and a junior in college. For years, I've been cosidering plastic surgery. I absolutely hate my profile. I don't like to have my picture taken from the side, and I can't deal with being video taped. My problem is that I have an extremely small chin, and a larger than normal nose. Each would be bearable without the other. I like the way I look from the front, but whenever I go near a three way mirror, I freak out.
I'm considering getting my nose done, and getting a chin implant. However, I don't have the money for it now. Ideally, I'd like to get it done next December over winter break. (As it's probably my last chance to take an entire month off from school/work) I don't know of any plastic surgeons, and I don't know anything about getting finance help. It's something that I want REALLY BAD, but I don't know if the timing is right, especially since people I know are saving money to move out on their own.
However, I'm also really scared about changing my face. Especially since it'll be very noticable, whatever the results. My mother isn't supportive.. she thinks I'm beautiful as I am. But if the surgery is successful, I will feel a million times better about my face. Has anyone here had both rhinoplasty and a chin implant? What were your experiences? I'm not afraid of pain or temporary bruising/scarring... I'm afraid of doing something permenant to myself that looks worse. I saw pictures on-line showing chin implants... Many came out either too large or disproportional. I don't want to look like a man you know?
Thanks

Hi!
I am also in college, well I just graduated last semester and I recently had a rhinoplasty/chin implant. My nose wasn't never a big nose, I just wanted a subtle difference to it plus my chin was a little receding and now it looks wonderful. You will look more different to yourself then as you appear to other people whom u haven't told about the surgery. Most people will complement your new hairdo or will never be able to put their finger on what is different. I didn't tell anyone about my surgery except for my best friend and the person who picked me up after my surgery. The decision is yours and yours alone. Don't let anyone tell u otherwise. I feel so much better now that I have had this done. I feel as if it has complemented my features not changed them. My self esteem was already high but now it is through the roof.
As far as how I paid for the procedures, I took out additional loans from school. Good luck dear!

I was considering getting my nose done after college too. How did you get your school to loan you the money?

Well, depending on how much you originally borrow, I received a unsubsidized, subsidized, and a parent plus loan. I also got me a job bartending to finish off the last $1200 dollars or so. Where there's a will, there's a way. Believe me!

hey everyone~
I'm in college too, and I am most likely getting rhinoplasty this summer.
My nose isn't terrible, but I hate my profile and I have small feautures so it looks out of place... who is everyone considering to get the surgery done?

Where abouts are you? I just had my unveilling today and I'm absolutely extatic that I did it. One thing I'll say this, that you will never look worse than you feel you look now. It's ALWAYS an improvement. People say not to expect perfection, but I gotta say my doctor perfected it. Go for it, you will not regret it. I had barely any bruising, some swelling especially on my nose as I see today, and NO pain whatsoever!!
