View Full Version : Anyone heard of reactions to tylenol et al?

I get a severe stomach ache and enormous joint pain whenever I take anything OTC related to pain relief for more than a day or two -- tylenol, excedrin, advil, aleve, even nytol and no one else seems to have heard of this. How can I stop a headache if there isn't anything I can take, was wondering if anyone else had this.

The stomach ache lasts for days and is in the upper stomach, like a throb that comes and goes and sometimes makes it hard to breathe. Emetrol helps but you're not supposed to take that for a long period of time.

The joint pain is primarily in the ankles, knees, wrists and elbows and makes them feel like I want to pull them out of their sockets. I have to constantly wriggle my ankles for hours; goes away only when the drug wears off. Seems to me these drugs are supposed to get rid of pain, not cause them.

I can take vicodin but of course don't want to take that for a headache or toothache or sore shoulder or whatever.
