i am 31,i had a histerectomy almost 3 years ago.they only left 1 ovary. i have read the symptoms of perimenopause and i have about 95% of them.one thing is i have once in a while a stinging feeling go through my body.it happens most of the time when i start feeling hot. i feel like someone lit a match to my head, neck and shoulders, then i get those prickly feelings, then i get chills.does any of that sound like a symptom? i told my dr. he wont give me anything to help.he did my blood work for hrt levels and said that my one ovary is suppling enough hormones and im too young to start menopause, even though my grandmother, mother and sister started in their 30's.can i be starting it and it not show in my blood? thanks for any help and what is the best things any of you have found to help?

Well.......I'm totally new to all this pre/perimenopause stuff, but I was reading one of Dr. Lee's books this past weekend, and he said that testing the hormones by doing blood tests was not accurate because the levels fluctuate so much. I'm thinking that the saliva tests are probably more accurate. The bad thing about the saliva tests is that they seem pretty expen$ive, ugh. Oh, well, I'm sure others will post who can help with your questions. Hope you get it figured out soon! :)

Hi Tammy,
This stinging feeling that goes through you body might be similar to what I had several months ago too. Along with extreme fatigue, I felt jittery inside, internally shakes (not jerks), it would run through my entire body, up and down, like ants running thru, a deep nervous like sensation of some sort. It is often difficult to describe how we are feeling. It all depends on the choice of words we used! I tried explaining this to my dr. and he said it wasn't normally a meno symptom (duh!)

It would be more intense at night. I could be asleep and then this internal jittery would wake me up. I would wake up with hot sweats along with it. I would jump out of bed in a state of panic. When this happened, I took my anxiety pill which seem to help calm me, I would lay there and take big breaths and try to relax. At that time, I thought these internal shakes were anxiety/nervousness. I also experienced intense body aches the same way - up and down the entire body one night. It is really scary to have these symptoms. I felt so alone b/c I couldn't find other women who had the similar synmptoms. I would say these were the worse for me! Later, I found the power-surge site (it's a big meno board), and there is a lot of talk about these internal shakes. It is caused mostly from lack of magnesium. I am taking 1000 mg a day. I don't know if it's the magnesium that helped or hormones finally settled down, but I have been feeling pretty normal since Jan. of this year.

I have also felt my arms and feet burning. It wasn't just warm - it would hurt - it was like you said, someone lit a match on me, then I could get really cold. I then also had pins & needles feeling on just my left foot. Once in a while, I still think I feel a little of it and I start worrying that I would start feeling bad again. I don't feel it once I start moving around or exercising. All I am having these days are some aches and pain.

I am sure what you're going thru is peri-meno esp. if all the other women in your family went thru it the same age. Hope this helps....

I have been getting pins and needles sensations in both hands and down my legs for about 18 months now. I haven’t been sure whether it was to do with my vertigo problems or the menopause. It seems to be affected by heat – started when I was on holiday in Antigua – and also by stress. The leg tingling is nearly always accompanied by night sweats which I still get although much less severe than 2 years ago as my menopause is just about finishing I think.
