Sorry to hear you're having a hard time. I never had swollen nodes from h, but once I did from another infection, and I had to wait a heckuva long time for them to shrink back to normal size. Have you tried not wearing panties? Like the old Scottish guys in kilts--go free underneath? Sorry--I don't have many more suggestions. Just want you to know I care. Ornament 04-05-2004, 01:59 PM Thanks B.P. - It's ALWAYS great to receive a response from you....I've tried the "no panties thing", but I feel sort of strange, I work w/men, only....I don't think, they look, for panty lines, but it just makes me uncomfortable....going to work, as my daughter, would call it, "commando". The panties are the first thing that goes, as soon as I get home. H is kind of strange, this time (7th OB, in 7 mo.) no other symptons, just the swollen glands. But, I did start taking my Valtrex, (I know, don't cringe), everyday as supressive therapy. I didn't have the patience to continue with the other regimen, but perhaps, I didn't wait long enough.....But, to me I should of seen a difference in 6 months. Anyway, I do appreciate hearing from you and once again, I'm thankful for your info. And welcome back from your "soul - satisifying", trip......Gracias, -Orn PollyPrissyPants 04-05-2004, 06:07 PM i just got back from dr. where my daughter was checked again....they are testing for herpes...but the dr made a point of telling me to call if her pelvic lymph nodes became swollen...she didnt say what this meant but there was an urgency in her voice...maybe you should call your dr to be sure it's not serious... best of luck in your pain management...PPP~~~ serialnovelist 04-05-2004, 06:09 PM Wow Orn that's really odd 7 Ob in 7 months, you must have a pretty strong strain. Absolutely starting taking the valtrex twice a day 12 hours apart. I had that exact same problem with my first outbreak and haven't had it since. I haven't stopped taking valtrex the whole time though. If i feel an outbreak coming on it's two pills a day and the rest of the time it's one pill a day. Loose fitting clothing, no underwear is a great idea and the only other thing i can think of is eat and drink like you've got a really bad cold, rev up and boost that immune system, plenty of water and chicken soup and echinachea, vitamin C, Zinc, Selenium, get some sunshine and get plenty of rest. Sorry your feeling so horrible Orn. Just think of it this way the longer you have it, the better it will get because your imune system will respond to it larger every time, ya gotta love those antibodies lol take care. backpacker 04-05-2004, 11:08 PM Oh, dear Orn, it's a-ok with me for you to take the suppressive therapy; it's not my thing, but maybe if I had the h as badly as you do, I'd try it. So whatever works for you. Ornament 04-06-2004, 02:13 PM A Special Thank-you to BP, Polly, and Serial..... I really appreciate your responses. Since, this OB started I have increased my Valtrex, (My license to practice medicine, should be coming via mail-order any day now, LOL) to 1000 mg. per day, which was my original rx., but for only 5 days. So, I took it upon myself to take 500mg. daily, as supressive and bumped it up to 1,000mg., during OB time. Yes, I know what you all are thinking, I am planning on explaining all of this to my doctor @ my next visit, I'm just not due yet. But, anyway, my point being with the increase, I can actually see a "size difference" in the node, itself. So, I don't think I'm causing any harm. But, I have been slacking on taking the vitamins and immune boosters (thanx for the reminder Serial), but I will continue ASAP. I do admit, I like "quick" results, lack of patience (or patients, LOL) on my part, which is something, I've been trying to change now, for years. Secondly, girls....I went out and bought these cute panties, called boyshorts, which don't have elastic in the groin/node area and they are quite comfortable....They fit up high, sort of like "granny panties", but they're sooooo much cuter. They're made out of a mesh material and lace. Well, enough about that....And yes, I do have an underwear fetish. Hmmm, first I've admitted that. But, Thanks again everyone, for being there for me...I'd like to return the favor for each of you......Hugs, -Ornament serialnovelist 04-06-2004, 04:00 PM And yes, I do have an underwear fetish. LOL Orn just go no undewear skirt commando lol you wear a long enough skirt that's not so thin it's see through and you won't have to worry about things being too tight. It's why i like being a guy sometimes cause boxers aren't tight at all. I just don't get how some guys can wear those butt hugger, tightie whities LOL  Malvoe 04-07-2004, 12:24 AM I have a question...how swollen is swollen? It sounds like I would know it if I had swollen glands in the groin b/c they are painful, but, I've never felt around down there for lymph nodes and am wondering if things are normal or not. Thanks. Mommyof4 04-07-2004, 02:21 AM As for the groin nodes, if you can feel them, they are swollen. Swollen nodes are very normal during an outbreak. Wherever you get an infection, the nodes closest to it will swell as they try to fight it. It can take months for lymph nodes to come back down to normal size though most calm down once the infection is under control. Warm compresses and Motrin are my best therapy. Good luck |
