Has anybody ever tried this? I've heard, anecdotally, that some have had success... it makes sense, maybe. I sit on my deck and feel wonderful. The air is fresh and my stomach relaxes. I go inside and the air smells, well, like inside. My stomach tenses and I have my trouble.
Would appreciate any feedback and thanks. :)

We meet again. I have similar experiences to you.
On a low pollen, low pollution day or time, if I go outside my blood pressure takes a nose dive. In fact, my blood pressure is much lower away from my home, except on bad days in which the pollen and/or pollution levels are high, in which case my heart beat also goes nuts.
At work, at the doctor's office, when shopping, when going for a ride, I always feel better than I do at home. My blood pressure is ALWAYS lower outside or away from my place.
That is why I started removing wooden wall cabinets and wooden standing cabinets that had an odor. I removed all wall to wall carpetting long ago, and all uphostered furniture. My wife limits the use of cleaners.
It seems like the biggest breakthrough for me recently, was the removal of the wooden cabinets and getting rid of the fabric softeners and detergents. What is confusing is why I did so much better outside my home, although I was still exposed at that time to the fabric softeners, of which I was wearing at that time!? I attributed most of my problems to my home, because when I left my home I felt better. But, when I left my home my system was still being attacked by other irritants. But, I felt better. Confusing!
Hmmmm!? Have you considered that you might have a sewer leak in your place? If the toilet bottom is not seated properly, which is a problem in many dwellings, or if the sewer exhausts are not vented properly, you might be getting somewhat odorless, and harmful gasses in your place.

No, I hadn't considered this. I think, in large part, because when I go to the basement I feel so much better. That being said, I closed off my bedroom completely. I did not improve. I keep going back to the paint. I just cannot get away from the paint issue. It is the only new thing, the only thing that has changed since I moved 7 months ago.
Get this... we even had horrible leaks in 2 locations at my old place, before this all started. There was one associated with the basement toilet and one associated with a rain gutter connected to the house. That house was a breather. Sure my heating bills were pretty high, but I slept well at night.
Anyhow, thanks for the feedback!

Well, we got about 5 plants -- all recommended for cleaning the air and filtering harmful off-gas chemicals.
I felt better when I woke up this morning, though I tend to feel better at the beginning of the workweek because I don't spend as much time in my home. However, I felt a lot better. Still uneasy, but no real pain or discomfort. I also felt well rested. As this could be a placebo for me (that's happened for me before, I think), I'll continue to monitor and update.
The other item of particular interest is that my pulse rate was lower (???). I typically fall on the high side of normal, but I was lower than usual. Again, the disclaimer is that I've been exercising more and that explains both why I was checking my pulse and a possible reason for the decrease in the rate (but w/in 12 hours?).
More later (hope this is of interest to somebody, I find it fascinating)
