Hi,

My 5 year old daughter has spastic left hemepledgia. We have not had much success potty training her so she is still in diapers. Although she does have trouble with verbalization, she is able to tell us "It's Itchy" - referring to her diaper. I am writing to you all hoping that you can share any experiences you may have like this one. I am looking for the best ointment, etc to help her skin. We have tried some of the commercial products like A&D without any luck. Anyone have any ideas ??

Thanks very much,

Gary

Hi Gary,

this is not rocket science, and it doesn't matter how old your daughter is. You haven't mentioned how or where this itch occurs. It can be from not rinsing her completely of soap or shampoo in the bath, or from urine or fecal matter not properly cleaned from the crotch area during the day. Does she wipe, or attempt to wipe herself?

A good diaper rash ointment or powder properly applied, and paying strict attention to your daughters hygene needs like changing her diaper frequently, can minimize problems like you describe :)
