I have heard of going over the skin with a boar-bristle type brush to increase circulation and encourage lymph drainage. Does anyone do this? If so, what kind of difference has it made in your skin?

I've only heard of doing this if you have a hicky or something to make it go away sooner. INTERESTING! Blue-eyedBelle 04-06-2004, 12:45 PM I do! I started it as a way to help gently exfoliate (on a daily basis) my self-tanner - so that it faded more evenly. But it did more! I actually noticed a tightening of my skin - making it look more toned. I also had a decrease in cellulite on the backs of my upper thighs - I didn't have a lot to begin with, but it still made it look better. It makes your skin tingle, too, so you actually feel like it's doing something! Abbey32 04-06-2004, 04:21 PM Yes, I do too! I noticed way softer skin, less cellulite and skin firmness as well. I dry brush...before the shower and then in the shower as well. Then moisture up really well. Then I drink plenty of water. I highly recommend it. It is said to rid your body of toxins. I do it in a circular motion...taking your time and do all areas. Blue-eyedBelle 04-06-2004, 05:25 PM I only do a circular motion on my stomach, my butt, & the backs of my thighs. The rest of my body, I do long strokes towards the heart - for example, on my arm, I do about 10 strokes in one spot, from wrist to shoulder, then I move over a little and do the same until I have gone completely around my arm. Legs the same way, except I usually do ankle to knee all the way around, then knee to hip all the way around. I do the circular motions on the backs of my thighs for extra work in that area, but always end up with the long ones from knee to thigh. I have a specific routine/pattern that I use. ccynthia 04-08-2004, 01:12 AM where did you get your brushes? Blue-eyedBelle 04-08-2004, 01:51 AM I got mine at Target - in the bath & body dept. - just make sure you get one with natural bristles. Abbey32 04-08-2004, 09:17 AM I got mine at Target too. 99 cents! MyLittleCupcake 04-08-2004, 11:01 PM Wow, I remember my mom telling me one time to brush the back of my legs to get rid of some of the celulite. I looked at her like she was crazy because i've never heard of anyone doing that, but now that i've read these post i think i'm going to try it. :) ccynthia 04-09-2004, 05:33 PM awesome, thanks girls |
