acrylic nails i have had before and they are fine. the only thing with them is that when you go for a fill, you can see the line where they filled in. they are the cheapest. oh and if you have them painted clear or french or american then they glow in the blacklight. gel nails are nicer. i have never had them but my friend did. they do not show the line when you go for a fill. they look new everytime. and they do not glow in the blacklight. they are a bit more expensive.. i do not know about crystal though. sorry.

hope that helps.

hmm.. Yea I wasn't too sure about the gel/crystal nails.. I just know they're more expensive :). Can you recall if the gel nails seemed as thick as acrylic ones? Well either way thnx for responding ;)

Gel nails do not have the lasting quality that acrylics do- silks look nice but again, will break easier. If you have your acrylics done correctly, you should not be able to see a "fill". Also- stay away from the cheap mall nail salons that are charging $18 for a full set and use a drill. No one should ever use a drill on your nails, it will ruin your nail beds. Go to a respectable salon, to someone who actually has the skill involved to hand file your acrylics- yes, you will pay a bit more- but its worth it to know that the products they use are legal and sanitary.

oh man, you mean those buffer things? thnx for the warning. how much more do you think a more professional salon would charge? ...so acrylics are more durable and gels just look nicer.. k got it.

Yes, the electric drills that you see them using to file with- those will ruin your nails, can cut you and lead to infections of the Nail Bed. A professional salon will probably charge $50 for a full set of acrylics- but well worth the extra $$.
