Since our services are through the military overseas, the resources can be limited. I would like to learn effective ways to teach my son to communicate. I have read about ABA, TEACCH, and some others. I would like to know experienced parents opinions on some effective ways of teaching children on the spectrum. My child is currently getting one hour a week from a speech therapist. I am looking into playgroups for special needs kids and some other support groups for myself. I plan to spend 1-2 hours a day teaching my son, but before I can do it effectivly I need to know how. Any suggestions or experiences would be appreciated very much.
Thanks

If you want to try ABA yourself, I would get Catherine Maurices book "Let Me Hear Your Voice". She lists the steps used in her childrens' therapy.

Thanks. I'm going to the library tomorrow, so I'll see if I can find it. Hopefully I can - but it's a military library, so who knows!
